Good morning.

The late shot last night has thrown off Achilles' and our schedule. We need to get back on track this weekend. I plan on doing a curve to understand how he is reacting to the new .1 dose. This morning's dose is the 3rd cycle at this dose. It's such a small dose and I am praying that he doesn't drop low during the day today. The +1 number scares me. I hope he keeps eating. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

Right now I am toying with the idea of an OTJ trial starting Monday or sooner depending on what numbers he gives us this weekend. This is all so new to me though and I am second guessing myself though. I don't want to rush him, but I don't know if it's healty for him to be in the 50s, 60s and 70s for the better part of the day. Is that a normal level for cats? He seems fine. He eats well, purrs, litter box is normal and he plays a little. But he's not incredibly active. Could the low numbers be making him lethargic?

I plan on keeping a watchful eye on him this weekend.

Have a great day LL.

Re: 9/17 Achilles AMPS 82 +1 60

It is not uncommon for kitties who are not diabetic to run pretty low numbers during the day...
See where he is tonight at shot time and hopefully some experts will be around to talk to you about the dose....
Usually the .1u is the very last dose that is needed...but if that is driving the numbers down to the low greens, it might be too much...let's see what others say okay Eva?

Eva....Achilles is doing so well. Its got to be a little scary during this last phase of the treatment. You'll get some great advice from the experts this evening to help guide you.

Lol!! I wish we could schedule our kitties' dose changes!! It's all going to be a "wait and see" regarding where Achilles is and whether and when he's ready to go for an OTJ trial. The numbers dictate everything.

It's absolutely not dangerous for him to be surfing in the 50s. Many non-diabetic or cats in remission may even surf lower.

Re: 9/17 Achilles AMPS 82 +1 60

I echo what Sienne said!
and..... why not allow the pancreas to heal with some tiny assistance.. the longer it heals the stronger it gets to go on its own and stay OTJ... At this stage, this little tiny dose isn't worrisome.

Looking good Achilles!

Re: 9/17 Achilles AMPS 82 +1 60 +10 66 PMPS 102

Achilles is not happy with his schedule change. He wants dinner!! :-D

We had a nice PMPS of 102 which makes us comfortable to shoot. I can't believe I just wrote that! Two weeks ago I would have been terrified to shoot this number. It's amazing how quickly we adjust.

Well Achilles, you had a nice break today from poking. I hope you enjoyed it because we'll be testing you tonight and doing a curve this weekend. :-D

I'd like to keep Achilles at this dose for as long as he will agree with it. In fact, he has his follow up appt with the vet on Monday night and I don't want to start an OTJ trial before then b/c the vet stress will likely bring his BGs up. So we'll continue this dose and use food to help keep him at this dose.

Time to visit some condos and see what the rest of the sugarbabies are up to.
