I passed out on the couch again. Just so exhausted lately - don't even wake up for my alarms...

She vomited around PM +9. Real vomit - I hate when that hard won food is wasted like that... I don't know why she vomited - I did give a dose of azithromycin last night, but that was nearly 8 hours prior to the vomit. I only mention that because she'd vomited shortly after her last dose of azithromycin (the IM vet suggested I keep giving this to her). I know she hates the cod liver flavor, so it makes her gag - which kind of makes sense why she'd vomit soon after. But seems unlikely it would make her sick 8 hours later. So... could be a chemo drug side effect... Could be the cowboy cookout that we had for the first time. Or something completely different.

She's not feeling well - poor girl. I knew her PS would be high. But I fed 2 Tbsp Wellness this AM - even about 1 hour after the vomit, she did lick at some food so it wasn't totally repulsive to her.

Sigh.

Today's story, a.k.a. "The [first] time that she outwitted BF":

I was taking a shower when all this happened. Apparently, BF (the original one who adopted Kasha with me) wanted a cigarette. No smoking in the house, but we had the 2 top floors of a house and an open front porch on the 2nd floor. Kasha LOVED to go out on that porch but you had to watch her or she'd sneak under the porch wall thing and get out on the little bit of roof over the first floor porch. Anyway... BF was going out on the porch for a smoke and figured Kasha would want to go out there with him. He stepped out the door onto the porch and held open the storm door for her. Meanwhile, she walked up and pushed the main door closed, locking it. So, BF went and had his smoke then went to the window off the porch that led into the spare bedroom. He tried to get his fingers under the screen to open it up so he could get into the apartment that way. Except Kasha came into the spare room and clawed and bit at his fingers to keep him from coming in. Finally, he took out a knife or something and slashed the screen enough that he could reach his whole hand through and push her away. Keep in mind - I'm in the shower while all this is going on. So, BF gets back in through the spare room, I get out of the shower and Kasha comes strutting into the bathroom looking so completely smug I had to question what she'd been up to. She was SO pleased with herself... and then I went out and found the screen in the spare bedroom slashed to bits. What happened? I asked. BF sheepishly told me what had happened. I asked, you couldn't just wait for me to finish my shower? I thought it was so funny, because he'd never thought all that much of cats and then she went and outwitted him. I'd hear him on the phone with his friends, saying "I don't even like cats, but this cat is cool!". And when we broke up, he moved out and got... you guessed it. A cat of his own...

Re: 9/16 Kasha AMPS 220 :(

Hi Krys,
I'm sorry Kasha isn't feeling well today. I wonder if it was the Cowboy new food that didn't agree with Kasha. I remember my kitty would vomit anytime I changed his food. Did Kasha ever like any of the lc FFeast canned foods? I know Wellness is a really good quality food though. I'm sending prayers for her to feel better as the day moves forward.

Loved the story of Kasha outwitting your bf! Keep the stories coming.

Re: 9/16 Kasha AMPS 220 :(

Good morning. I decided to visit your condo when I saw the subject lines of our two threads next to each other - our AMPS only differed by a few points, but I had a smiley and you had a frown. Come to find out you've got a sick girl - I share in your frowning. I wish I knew some fabulous trick to get her stomach to settle down - but I don't think cola syrup would work for a diabetic cat. (And does it get any more frustrating when all you want to do is help, but they can't tell you why/where/how they're feeling sick?)

On to a much happier subject... I love that story! I think this is one of the only places where you can find people who can honestly say that. I think when I start talking to other people about Rufus or any of the other animals I've known and loved they roll their eyes behind my back (...while I have my head down, searching for the wallet insert full of pictures to prove my claims that they are the most beautiful animals you've ever seen.)

I hope Kasha is feeling much better soon. I'll admit I haven't been paying attention, so I don't know if this is an on-going dilemma, but hang in there. She sounds spunky - I'm sure she's working hard on getting better.

Re: 9/16 Kasha AMPS 220 :(

Sorry to hear Kasha was feeling poorly this morning. AMPS is not so bad considering everything that you are dealing w/Krys.

Loved the story....smart kitty, Kasha is. And oh...so beautiful.

I'm sorry that Kasha is not feeling well today. I hope she feels better.

Pretty good AMPS though, all things considered.

Kasha is a very smart kitty!!

Would it be worth a call to the vet to see if Pepsid might be OK to help settle Kasha's stomach?

I'll call if this continues. I don't want to add more meds if I can avoid it. I did give some probiotics in breakfast #1.

She did drop to 135 before I left for work.

Hi Kasha, I'm going to stop by your place today with some chicken soup to comfort your tummy. I want you to feel better real soon. We still have some nice vines in the garden, so I'm going to pick a bouquet of healing vines to bring along.

Lots of hugs,
your friend, Stu

Hi Krys. I haven't been around much, but I have dropped into your condos to catch up with what is going on. I really enjoy reading Kasha's stories! LOL, about her outwitting your ex-bf...funny!

I'm sorry to see that Kasha is still having tummy problems and I hope that the probiotics will help her out some. Please give her some scritches for me and tell her that although we don't drop by much, Spot and I are thinking about her (and you, of course!)

I'm sorry to hear that Kasha's tummy is upset. I hope she's feeling better by the time you get home. Thank you for another cute story - that one had me giggling. I'm sending healing and eating vines to Kasha today - Feel better girl!

FUNNY story! And it was so funny that you could see her smug behavior! She really outwitted him....that is a RIOT!!!

Hope Kasha feels better real soon....poor lil girl with her upset tummy.... ((Krys & Kasha))

Well, so far I haven't SEEN any signs of vomit since I've been home. I force fed 2 Tbsp Wellness. A lot of food had been eaten in my absence, which might explain why Blue didn't even bother to get up for dinner. He did eventually get up and nibble a bit, but I think he was already stuffed.

I gave Kasha a snippet of cyproheptadine tonight - I'm experimenting to see if it works now that she has a more open nasal passage. It didn't seem to do anything except make her a little sleepy when she was all blocked up.

She seemed fairly perky since I've been home. We played a short game of attack the hand (my hand) and she enjoyed some vigorous chin and face scritches.
