I just got home. I didn't get a phone call from UCD today, so after my MRI in Sacramento, I swung by to pick up the stroller and check in on Harvey. Steven apologized and said he'd been swamped, but the news was good - they moved Harvey to the Intermediate Care Ward today. His electrolytes still aren't where they want them, but they aren't doing wild swings up and down like they were, so he's considered stable. Steven was able to bring him into an exam room so I could see him, and he was somewhat more alert. Steven brought in a can of Fancy Feast and opened it, to see if Harvey would eat. He said he had eaten a little bit earlier in the day, but was still on the dextrose (not glucose, as I said earlier) drip to get him enough calories. I set Harvey down few inches from the food and he went right over to it and started eating! :woot: By the time he was done he had eaten half the can. I thought Steven was going to split his face smiling. He said he was very happy (I could tell!) to see that. So was I!

I got to spend another ten minutes or so petting and loving on Harvey, and then Dr. Lim came in. She said he definitely has pancreatitis. They expect him to be there through the weekend, and they will see how he is on Monday before deciding when he can come home. They want his electrolytes back to normal and want him eating reliably first. They are still giving him R, but hope to get him back on Lantus in the next day or so. She complemented me on my care of him, said he really looks amazing, considering all he has going on. I appreciated that, as I'm feeling guilty for not being able to prevent this episode. She said it isn't necessarily the p-titis that caused it - it could be the lymphoma, or the combo of the two. She said once he's eating, we can try putting the binder in his food, just a tiny amount. She doesn't want to switch him to a low Phosphorus food right now, because she doesn't want to upset the apple cart, especially with his diabetes. She said we need to take it slow, so if his Phosphorus stays elevated, we'll go with the binder. I love that she didn't demand he switch to a prescription food.

I told Dr. Lim how much I like Steven, and she was very pleased with my comments. She said he is doing very well, one of the best students she's worked with.

I can go back to see Harvey tomorrow and/or Sunday evening, if I want to. They will call with updates. He's not completely out of the woods, but it's looking much better. Those L&L Land vines are pretty darned powerful! Thank you all! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Mark and I are going out to dinner with his best friend and I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine and sleep in tomorrow!

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug:

What a great report !! I know Harvey had to be so happy to see you and spend time with his momma bean! Continued prayers and big hugs!!!

What a good report. I'm glad you are going out tonight. Loads of prayers and vines. It s.ounda like an acute pancreatitis episode on its way out. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Tricia, I'm glad to hear sweet Harvey is doing better. You're one of the strongest beans on this board. Try to have a good dinner and if it were me I'd have 2 bottles of wine instead of 2 glasses and sleep until Sunday :p:p JK, guess not a good time for my humor ;) Sending all the vines and prayers for your sweet boy. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wonderful report...I was thinking of you all day and am so glad to see this. I agree with not upsetting the apple cart...first and foremost, he has to eat, whatever it is, and fortunately we have options to help work around it. Prayers for continued improvement.

FANTASTIC news!!!! Especially that he ate for you!!!!

So glad I can breathe again!! I've been so worried....as I know you have to have been (so you breathe too!!!)

Enjoy your evening out, knowing that Harvey is getting the best of care and we'll continue to send those vines and prayers until Harvey is back home again and taking his rightful place in your chair!!

Oh Tricia, what wonderful news to read! I'm so happy he is out of ICU and that he ATE!! Yay! Sending tons and tons of vines and smiles to you!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
I'm glad you have a nice evening planned for tonight, nice celebration! :bighug:

What a big sigh of relief here! I am so glad to hear he's out of ICU and considered stable. :bighug::bighug: And the fact that he ate for you caused me to grin too. :joyful::joyful:

Enjoy that wine and the sleep in.

Vines factory still working overtime.

Tricia, what great news! I'm so happy to hear how much better Harvey is doing. Enjoy your wine, you definitely deserve it! Payers and vines still coming. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

It's so funny how baby cats will eat for their mama bean! I'm so glad it happened, you got to see him, and is out.

This whole board has every appendage crossed, including me! All the vines. Alllll of them. And so many wine clink clinks. <3

What a way to end the week! That's awesome news. Harvey you keep getting better and soon you'll be home.:bighug::bighug:

Thanks, everyone!

As we were leaving the restaurant, Dr. Lim called. She said that Harvey's sodium level had gone up again, so they were having to readjust his IV formula and would be monitoring him closely overnight, even though he's not in ICU. She needed to let me know that they were going to exceed the estimated cost with this further treatment, and was it okay? Well, what could I say? "Do what you need to". Sigh. It's a good thing Mama and Daddy love you, little stinker.

I forgot to attach this picture that I took of him this evening.

Yo Deputy Harvey, Keep on eatin' for your beans. They love you so much. Get better, buddy. We are all cheering for you!
Your friend,
LagoonMeister Rusty

Tricia, I hope that those electrolytes and sodium will get back to normal asap so that your boy can come home soon.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

There's been some hootin' and hollerin' for you Harvey and the Full Moon Party and a special howl you may have heard all the way cross country. Keep on getting better and better and better and better 'til you're all better and home again.

Tricia, lots of hugs and thoughts and a tip o' my glass to you and Harvey tonight. Hang in there, mamabean.

Marilyn

Oh what a sweetie! And I am so so so glad that he is feeling so much better and the the Dr is supportive and helpful! Hope you have a great night out and can breathe easier and relax a little :)

Aww I just want to smoosh him with kisses:kiss::kiss::kiss:. I'm glad the report was well, and they are taking such good care and notice of everything, getting the sodium down again. I hope he can come home soon. I will keep trying the lottery too, they should be giving you that wing! Or a discount...The vet and Steven both sound like sweeties:). Good news on the eating! And I'm glad you got to spend some time with Harvey when he is awake, too. I hope your evening is going well and you are managing to have fun. Still sending prayers and vines :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Great news! He looks like he doesn't feel well but I'm glad he responded to you and he's eating. That's great news.

Also good news that she didn't recommend a prescription diet. They are really high carb and there are lar foods with lower P values that you could feed him without using a prescription diet. I hope they get his electrolytes sorted out.

More vines and hugs.

I am v-er-y happy to hear this. Give Harve a gentle kiss on his nose from Antie Kathy, who has a special soft place in her heart for abys.

So glad to hear Harvey is doing better. Smooches to you, Harvey!! Keep eating and getting better!!

Sending lots more feel-better vines to Harvey. Hope his sodium comes down soon and you can take him home. Hope he eats well for you today; getting him to eat the can of fancy feast yesterday was a big step towards recovery!
