I think Elmo is competing with Luna in the bouncing !Thanks JamieBring it on down there Elmo
Have a great day Beth

I'd be careful giving too much MC. You want to slow him down but not stop him in his tracks.Got to get him into those healing numbers more too so he gets used to them and stops bouncing so much.
Yes it is always 2-5c food but that's after eating off and on all night ....baby food , 2c food ..... could this be part of the mix ! Keep thinking of a friends fav saying I see as great wisdom "It's not the load you carry but how you carry the load"I think it's catch 22. He zooms down and then he goes zooming back up. If you look at some cycles he goes way up at +1 then falls back down closer to PS level by +2. (AM 13th, PM 14th) If you took the +1 test out of the equation, the drop wouldn't be that swift. Not sure why he zooms up that much at +1. Is his pre-shot meal strictly LC?
Elmo says " thank you , Auntie LindaI'd retest him at +5. Give him a little break. Doubt he's going to drop that much and he's got more food on board.
"Nan, that's why I love and appreciate to the moon and back all your eyes/ insight on Elmo. I honestly am so focused on the care of he and civvie Chris that I don't see what y'all see...gives me great comfort to know you all are giving of yourselves to puzzle this out...this is how we backed into remission the first time ...the Elmo WaySo, I was thinking about this. I've been more or less assuming that Elmo's bounces are due to drop speed, not where he ends up. The reason I've been assuming this is that I've been assuming that his relapse was caught earlier than most new diabetics-- so he hasn't really had a lot of time to "get used to" high numbers. I could be wrong about this, and I also could be wrong about just how long it takes for a cat's body to decide that reds and blacks are normal. Maybe it happens really fast, especially for a bounce-prone kitty like Elmo (note: my own Amber has never been a bouncer, so I don't have the hands-on experience here).
Anyway, this is all to say, I've been less concerned with trying to steer him down to greens so he can get re-acclimated, and more concerned with propping him up early to keep him from yo-yo-ing. But maybe I'm thinking about this the wrong way? What do you guys think?
Let Elmo eat when he feels like it. As long as you know whether his AMPS is food influenced or not, there is no reason to make him fast overnight. I fed Menace during the night and I think most folks leave some food out for kitty to munch on. Better for Elmo overall and it keeps him happy!

So feed or leave be ?? If feed , just LC or LC plus smidge MC ??? @Nan & Amber @MrWorfMen's Mom ??? Ideas ab next test time ??Just ate at +6 ...quite well for him as a matter of fact ...this cat is his own Gpa Man for sure+2 fed 139
+5 nap 157
+6 fed ???
If he's awake, take a test. See how 4 hours of not eating affects a downward cycle.

Nope I didn't ...want me to now ?? Last test was + 5 ...this would be + 6.5 test right now ...brbWhat did Elmo eat at +6? Low carb or LC with a smidge of MC or just a spot of gravy? And ditto to Kel's ask....did you test him?
Thanks for the correction. Edited. Now double checking the GO bus/VIA/bus trip I was booking at the same time I was looking at Elmo. What did Elmo eat at +6? Low carb or LC with a smidge of MC or just a spot of gravy? And ditto to Kel's ask....did you test him?

...so you're taking Elmo on a bus trip , Kel ???Ooooooo......greenie ?!?!?I think he can wait till you are off the phone which I guess would be about +8. Maybe we'll see a nice greenie.
One can dream !! So test at +8.5 ????Taking Elmo down to visit the DS at uni. The DS is great with cats. Not far, but I can't highway drive because of vertigo, so it's a double decker bus, a train that always arrives late, then an express city bus. Going to be staring at my knees the entire time.![]()
