Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos
Ahhh, this feels right. Late night condo. Same old, same old.
Thank you so much for all the visits this morning to yesterday's condo with the support and vines and love. It is much appreciated.
So I took Cinco to UCD today and we were there a long time. They were, as usual, really busy. The oncologists were meeting about him while we were there. Finally two came in and talked to us. They said we could do radiation or chemo. They said they felt that it was most likely a localized lymphoma, but they can't be certain. It is very similar to the tumor that was removed with his eye. If localized, the radiation is the best treatment. Chemo is better if they suspect it is also elsewhere. After discussing all the options, we decided to go ahead with the radiation. We can do chemo later if there is any sign it is elsewhere(which, at the moment, there are none). He goes in Friday morning for a CT scan - both to make sure there hasn't been a regrowth and to get an exact purchase on where everything is to set up the molds for the radiation. They are going to talk to the IM department about the best way to handle fasting and insulin. I'll be getting an e-mail with specific instructions tomorrow for Friday. I'm very grateful that we are getting moving on this now - that cancer was very fast growing and we need to get it as soon as possible. They share my sense of urgency, which is very comforting.
In discussing Cinco's diabetes and his treatment options, the subject of our meeting with Dr. Nelson came up. I told them how excited I was to be able to get Cinco in to see him. They agreed it was a coup. I mentioned that I was starstruck because he was such an authority on FD, and that I had tremendous respect for him. One of the oncologists said they'd read about it in Cinco's records, how Dr. Nelson said I was doing a great job and to keep doing what I was doing. She said apparently he had great respect for me, too! Talk about making my day!
Score one for FDMB.
I got a call from the Dentistry department this morning about Sasha. The first available appointment they have for her is in two weeks - Sept. 30. They'll keep her overnight and do the xrays and biopsies the next morning. They have her on the waiting list in case another appointment opens up before that. Her appy was pretty good today.
Minka started out the day with no appy - I had to syringe some z/d to give her the meds. She looked uncomfortable so I gave her Bupe. This evening she ate all her dinner. I guess the flare is passing (anti-jinx).
Harvey is still a world class hoover.
Tomorrow I'm taking a day for myself. Getting rid of all the gray hair my dear cats have caused me, then I'm meeting up with @Josie & Ripley (GA) for coffee or soda or something! How cool is that? So Cinco, you need to surf blue nice and smoothly. I really need this day off.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Marilyn & Polly, Deborah & Shasta, Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie.
Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.
