Yesterday...

This morning's blue AMPS was a happy surprise. The +4 meal last night appeared to slow him down significantly, so I stopped testing after +6. We will be switching to Levemir either tomorrow or Monday.

AMPS = 177 (PM cycle nadir - 1st meal LC 3%)
[3rd cycle on 15 units of Lantus]
+2 = 190
+4 = 120 (2 tsp MC 15% gravy w/2nd meal LC 3%)

Have you posted for Levemir starting dose advise? 70% of the current dose would be 10.5u but not sure I'd go that far down and also depends on what Chino has up his sleeve between now and then. My initial 2 cents is maybe starting with 11.5/12u.

Thanks! I put "Levemir dosing advice" in the title to see what others think. His vet said to start with 11-13 units so I am inclined to agree with your recommendation.

I agree that trying about 12 units to see how Levemir works for Chino, as a start. Good Luck!

Good luck with the switch. You are probably OK with 12 u, as long as you can monitor the first couple of cycles. I hope Chino flattens out on Lev for you. It does make thing more predictable and I got more/longer stretches of sleep as a result.
