Will have to see how Charlie's BG does today , his biggest drop was a 33pt drop, then spent a good 5hrs in green. I also denied what would have been an earned reduction.
Tommy gets his dental done today, he is not to happy to see the other cats eat this morning. I did give him .3 extra on all his meals yesterday and an extra meal at +6, all meals are finished at +4

Sending dental vines for Tommy today and hope he recovers quickly! I have a question also Darin. Do you feed the small meals on a regular basis everyday, or just when trying to prevent reductions. I have recently in the past few weeks, started the mini meals, and I sometimes am wondering if I should still feed her when she is in the high yellows and pinks, or skip those. Like the other night at pmps+3 when she was pink, I withheld the food, but just wondering if I should be consistent..just curious what you do?

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

I feed .7oz at am/pmps, +2, and +4. I find this works good. I use to feed half of meals at preshot and rest at +5. Then from lots of reading, found that multi-meals are better for the pancreas and closer mimics their natural eating habits of 8-10 small meals a day. Doing the 6 mini meals works best for my schedule.

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

When I am trying to prevent reductions I add mc food to his raw food that I make myself.

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Thanks! makes sense to me. I am giving 1/2 can ff lc at amps/pmps, and 1/4 can at +2 and +3 am and +3 pm. I started giving mc yesterday when she is dropping faster at the +2 and +3 am. Its working good for me too. Yesterday however mom had to give hc to keep her up,cuz she went to 46. any Tommy news?

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Dropped him off at 8 pacific time, will only hear something if extractions are need.

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Yea..when my doggie had hers, I dropped off at 8am and they didnt start til afternoon, then called me when they had to ask for permission to not cut out a cracked tooth that had healed and didnt think it needed to come out. So, I was anxious all morning when they didnt call me to say she was finished. I hate the waiting part! My drooler was 12 then..14 now, so I was worried about her being under for too long. She had 11 extractions, and felt 1000% better afterwards!

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Tommy dental update, going to need a couple extractions and a 1 or 2 day stay. They just started to keep cats after extractions due to post complications after going home on the first day.

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

A couple isnt too bad for the extractions, thankfully he will be where he can be monitored, but I bet he will be glad to get back home afterwards! Is that extended stay included with the cost of the dental, since it is required? My droolers dental was 900$! and she was outta there 3 hours later. Hopefully getting those bad toofs out will help him feel better. Misty, before her dental wouldnt even let anyone touch her face, and the groomer said it was like night and day afterwards. Overall, it was the best outcome. Im sending healing vines to Tommy for a swift recovery

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Not sure if it was included, total was 1700, they knocked 400 off the total. I get to visit him at +.5 2hrs from now.

Yikes! :o Thats probably because of the 1 or 2 day stay Im sure though..Dentals vary in cost from place to place..Ive seen them as low as 300$ in some areas, and then theres variables because of age of pet and other reasons. I dont know what people do that cant afford the vet bills..I know many get left at shelters when the owners cant pay,,sad  I wished I wouldve got pet insurance a long time ago when my babies were young. Mine are all seniors now and its crazy how much vets charge these days. Enjoy your visit with Tommy when you go see him

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

Hope Tommy is doing well......I am sure he will be super happy to see you!

And Charlie, my friend, you are going the wrong way silly cat....no need to bounce.....you LOVE da greens, remember?!??!

Re: 9/16 charlie amps 231 +2 276 +4 273

So tommy had 5 extractions, 3 canine, and 2 molars. Also a crown amputation. They told me his teeth were really really bad for his age (7.5yrs) what is the cause of bad teeth besides not brushing? Probably going to bring Lola in next month and Charlie the following month, they are all about the same age.

Re: 9/16 charlie pmps 326

Darin,
Sending healing vines to Tommy.
Tommy will be so glad to see you!
I think you can use "care credit"; you can set up a payment plan without having to pay any interest.
Paula

Re: 9/16 charlie pmps 326 +2 302

Thanks paula, he was still pretty under the influence when I visited him. He was happy to see me. I can stop in tomorrow anytime and visit him again. I bring him home Thursday after 10am(+6.5)

Re: 9/16 charlie pmps 326 +2 302

I'm sending healing vines to Tommy. Wow, when was his last cleaning? Some cats just get lots of plaque. Max has had a couple of teeth extracted over the years but Tiffany never did. In fact her last cleaning was when kidney disease was discovered and she wasn't even 10 years old. I know this will raise some concern from some but my vet doesn't believe in x-rays unless something looks suspicious. Vet dentists charge what you paid for x-rays and exams and then tell you what the full cost will be. The sedate for the x-rays so you are kind of at their mercy. Make sure they send him home with either a pain patch or enough bupe.

I hope Charlie clears his bounce soon.

Re: 9/16 charlie pmps 326 +2 302

Never had any cleaning prior. I guess I had never thought about it until I could smell his breath 3ft away. So now I plan on taking the others in over next 3 months, starting with Lola(7.5yrs Tommy's sister), then Charlie(7.5yrs) and finally Sadie(2yrs), hopefully all they will need is cleaning.
They are sending me home with liquid bupe for cheek dosing.

100pt drop from +2 to +4 fed .35mc/.35 raw trying to slow his drops and not cause a big bounce. It seemed to work on last night's cycle his high today was his pmps.
