I would like to preface this condo with the following statement:
Yes, I know, I'M A BAD MAMABEAN!!!!! I put my cat in danger because I was thoughtless. I dodged a bullet and I'm so very thankful my Champers is fine.
Okay, now that the admission of guilt and apology are out of the way, I'll get to the story...
My sister and brother-in-law came over this morning to put in my new sink and over-the-range microwave (they look FANTASTIC by the way, thanks for asking!!) I completely, not a little bit, but completely, forgot I had a cat with diabetes. I tested him at 9 a.m. before they got to the house and never thought about him at all after that. Instead, I visited, talked, went to the store, ate pizza, talked , and visited. Right before they left, I remembered poor, misbegotten Champ and checked his BG. At +9.5, (Champ's nadir is usually +5 or so), he was at 91. So the awful question is...how low did the poor thing go while mamabean forgot she had a cat? Champ usually (which we all know means next to nothing) comes to get me when he's low, wanting food. He didn't do that. He's usually on the hyper side when he's low. He was napping all day. Because everything turned out okay, I'm not going to keep imaging the worst. But, and this is a big BUT, I've learned a good lesson. DON'T GET COMPLACENT. DON'T FORGET YOUR CAT.
And now I'm going off to pay lots of attention to Champers!!
