Shooting an 18/18 schedule over the weekend definitely drained the depot, and Scully's numbers have been a bit higher the last few cycles. No green at all last night, and that AMPS of 393 this morning was disappointing. I was pleasantly surprised, though, at the 107 reading at +8.75 today, so hopefully she hasn't lost too much momentum. Her numbers have been really great lately, and I hope we haven't taken a step backward. Time will tell.

We've switched glucometers from the One Touch to the Relion Prime. Way back when Scully was first diagnosed, the pharmacist at Walgreens talked my DH into the One Touch, saying that it is the most accurate. At the time, we had no idea how often we'd be testing. We were both a bit reluctant to switch (old habits are hard to break), but we're absolutely hemorrhaging money with the cost of test strips. $70 for 50 One Touch strips compared to $9 for 50 Relion strips. I've been using both the last several tests to see how far apart the readings are. It seems the lower her BG is, the closer the readings are, but when her BG is higher, the readings are farther apart. For example, tonight's PMPS was 204 on the One Touch and 168 on the Relion. I can't always get a big enough blood drop for both meters, either, so sometimes each meter tests a different drop. Tonight's PMPS was tested on the same drop. Anyway, we're going forward with the Relion.

Hope everyone has a great evening! Hugs and healing vines to the sugar kitties and their beans who need them!

Looks like a nice slide down for Scully, I'm sure she will get back to normal quickly. My vet clinic uses the One Touch and I was going to get one as well, but the cost of those strips was a definite factor! We went with the Relion Micro instead. The thing I worried about when I researched the Relion Prime is the strips are likely to error out more often than the Micro and Confirm. I hope this is not the case for you. (p.s. if you continue to compare the two meters you may end up driving yourself crazy 2nd guessing and trying to make sense of the 20% differential! You can probably guess how I know this  )

Ruth, So far, I haven't had a problem with errors and I've used it several times. The One Touch will also give an error if you don't get a big enough drop of blood, so DH and I have become pretty good at eyeballing the drop because when you waste a One Touch strip, that's over a $1! But you're right about driving myself crazy comparing the two readings! I only have about 5 One Touch strips left, so we'll use those up and then stick with the Relion. Other than the errors, I hope it's accurate. I didn't really research it. I chose it because I didn't need all of the other accessories the other Relion meters came with.

Scully seems to be bouncing tonight. 335 (One Touch) at +3.
