I’ll be dropping George off at the vet soon so won’t have another update until later this afternoon…here’s to hoping he lets them examine him today!

They just called and said they will have to sedate him in order to examine him and get the samples…this isn’t surprising to me, but means he’s being a terror for them (which I’ve witnessed before). Scared to see what this visit will do to his BG.

Oh, I’m sorry. Hopefully he will recover from it quickly. He might be entertaining when he gets home.

PMPS is better than I expected considering George’s 7 hour drop-off appointment today. I don’t know who was stressed more - me or him. They seemed so elusive when I called after 6 hours that I assumed something went wrong.

He had a comprehensive exam, bloodwork and urinalysis. They said he looks really good and that all of his organs/functions look good too. His BG there was 299, which is better than they or I expected for the circumstances really. They otherwise said it looks like he’s doing well on the insulin and are glad I’m home testing. They did give him a convenia injection for an infection, but that was the only thing they found. I now know convenia is controversial, but he has had it before and did fine so I’m not really worried about it from that perspective. She said it was for a certain type of infection, which I assumed was for a UTI, but he didn’t have bacteria in his urine so I’m not 100% sure now. Hopefully it will help whatever it was/is though. I was a little flustered when she called since I was preparing for bad news so my notes are spotty. I have three bundles of printouts from them to go through though.

We did shot times a half an hour early today to give him time before his dropoff, but hopefully back to our regular schedule tomorrow.

They didn't say where the infection was?

Hopefully his numbers will improve once the infection comes down.
Well I thought they said it was a UTI, but I didn’t see on the paperwork where there was bacteria in the urine, although the paperwork does say it was bacterial cystitis, so I guess that’s the same thing as a UTI?

ETA - they did give him convenia last time he had a UTI (in January) and it worked then, so hopefully it does this trick this time too.

Ah, such lovely bedside manner those vets have.

299 on a pet calibrated BG machine sounds great!
Convenia is for skin/exterior issues, right? That's strange. Post his UI and bloodwork when you can.

I feel you on being flustered. I record the conversation, so I can replay and write down all the medical stuff that went right over my head.
