? 9-14 Tiffany - Cabergoline question

Hi Friends,

Tiff's vet called in the prescription and Diamond Back Pharmacy is mailing it out today. (Chicken flavored broth.)

My vet was not sure how long they stay on Cabergoline if it is working. Can anyone answer that?

I believe Tiffany will need to stay on it for life. I am tagging 2 Acro/Cabergoline members. Marvin is OTJ and Beenie is in the early days of Cabergoline

It would be for life. And an important note to keep in mind from Chris at the RVC
"Also, if the drug is not successful, I would gradually wean off the medication over two to three weeks because there is a condition in humans called dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I have not seen this syndrome in the cats which have discontinued the medication here but it is worth erring on the side of caution."

Yes I did, over about a 2-week period

Yes Marvin is on it for life, he is worth it. I may look into if a lower dose maybe worth a try too. Mind you I wouldn't want to have him go out of OTJ, just to find out lower dose is not working, so just thinking about it at this time. Reason I thought about it was I had hard time with the pharmacy last month and he was off it for 4 days and he was fine, so thinking it might be feasible... but again .... mental overload, going in circles in my head.....
