Thank you for the visits and comments yesterday. To answer a couple questions from yesterday:
Wendy: River isn't an acrocat, but that's a good thing to check. After River was diagnosed and was for months insulin-resistant, this is one of the things I asked my vet about. I will for sure be able to find another regular veterinarian. I have contacted Randi, who is the contact person here in Montreal, and she recommended her vet. The person who ignored the hypo and said it must be a brain tumor is one of the specialists in internal medicine at the emergency hospital where River stayed for 6 days when he collapsed with DKA.
This doctor said he couldn't have had a hypo; it must be a brain tumor. Later that day another internal medicine specialist called me and said it *was* a hypo, and he was having a Somogyi (he was having a bounce and was high), and I should stop giving my cat insulin for 3 cycles, as this would "give him a reset".
Since then, Lantus Land has been my lifeline.
Pam: B12 shots, from what I'm reading, are used for panc and IBD.
Mariko: Thanks, yes, I know about blood tests for B12 levels. I wanted to do exactly what you've mentioned, to see if it would help, since it's possible that it might.
I'm going to copy River's labs to his SS, for extra information.
Have a great day, everyone!
