9/14 Phoebe Squeak low AMPS. Did I make the right call? -- Answered. Thanks!

Happy Caturday!
This morning Phoebe Squeak had a 115 for her AMPS number so I waited (without feeding) and kept testing, but an hour later she was at 99. (I use AlphaTrak) I've never shot such a low number before so I skimmed just a bit off her dose and gave her the shot and breakfast.
I am home to test and feed HC food if needed today, but I'd love any advice in case it happens again. I hope I did the right thing -- I know if I skip a shot it's not good for her.
All words of wisdom appreciated. Thanks!

Since you are home to monitor, it should be okay. The 115 and 99 are basically the same number with meter variance. Make sure you get a +1 and a +2 so you can see where she's going today. As long as you can monitor, you can normally shoot numbers like that, unless you can see that she is dropping a lot from a higher number. Then you'd have to be careful because she could zoom down.

I second Carla's comment - being home to monitor is most important. Feed the curve if you think Phoebes is slipping down too fast - don't want her to chase any sharks. Luci gets a mixture of LC/MC when she starts to slide down too fast. Congrats on shooting low - remember the phrase 'shoot low to stay low'...

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you very much, Carla. I appreciate your advice. She was 141 @ +1, but I will keep checking. I appreciate you taking the time to help us. Furball looks great today!

Thanks very much, Sue. That is a good phrase to remember! Can I ask what you use for a MC food for Luci? I appreciate your support -- very scary the first time shooting a low number. How are you feeling today?

We all have to shoot our first green sometime!! Congrats on shooting yours! So glad you were home to monitor and didn’t have to skip!

Have a great day JJ :)

Thanks, Amanda! I guess it was the right call because at +4.75 Phoebe Squeak is @ 298. Hope Mowgli comes back down to green for you soon.

Glad you shot, congrats.:D Figures it was after the one time you didn’t get a before bed test.

Next time, just wait 20-30 minutes before retesting. If you wait too long, they can start going down without paying food. Even better, just shoot if you can monitor, no need to wait.

I would go back to 1.25 units tonight.

Thanks, Wendy. I went back to 1.25 as you suggested. Looks like she is in the bouncy house tonight.
