Max had a good night. He didn't wake me this morning but he did eat his baby food. and a little ff right away.

My mom looked good yesterday and seemed to be feeling better. She was her normal self. I hope the medication changes will keep her feeling well and happy. It's going to be so hot for several days in So. Cal

Vines and prayers to all in need. I'm thinking of Marje and her family at this difficult time.

What a nice report, Elise - for both Max and your mom. I'm continuing to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

And what a lovely number for Mr. Max this morning. Hoping for a nice green cycle for you today!

I'm glad your mom is feeling better.

You asked about Rusty's switch from Lantus to Lev. I can't help you with that because it occurred before we adopted him. When he was found wandering the streets of Plymough MA in Nov. 2008, he was taken to a shelter and found to be diabetic. He was fostered by Claludia (cjleo) for about 2 years on Lantus. When he was adopted by Phoebe in March 2010 (Phoebe_Tiggy_NortonGA), Phoebe switched him to Lev. because she used Lev. on her other diabetic kitty. It became apparent that Rusty needed to be an "only" cat and Phoebe thought it would be best for him to be rehomed. We adopted him in Nov. 2010 (our previous kitty, Stu, passed in Sept. 2010). Stu had been on Lantus and I thought about switching Rusty back to Lantus, because that's what I was familiar with. But Claudia, who is a human diabetic, thought that I should keep him on Lev., so I did. Long story and not much help, I'm afraid. We have had our ups and downs on Lev., but in general I like it better than Lantus because of the late onset, which fits well into my schedule. Rusty is a long-term diabetic and my goal is not OTJ, but to keep him in the range of a "normal" cat as much as possible. I go up and down in dose by a drop (not by .25 of a unit), generally following the "3 under 50 rule". I use the digital calipers and Terumo syringe.

Hope this helps. Lots of stories on LL. If you go to the earlier tabs of Rusty's SS you will see how I tried to approach Lev. and the tinkering involved. Rusty had good--low--numbers with Phoebe and her DH, but they had to limit testing because of their work schedules, so the total picture is incomplete.

Thank you Ella for explaining all that to me. You are a saint for taking in a diabetic cat. I'm not sure I would be able to do that. It's one thing if you have a cat that becomes diabetic but to take in one already diagnosed is something else. Rusty struck it rich with you!

Thanks, Carla. Max didn't eat the food I put out at +6.5 so I will check at +7 to make sure he doesn't drop.

Update: +5@7.5 and ate after test.

Hi Wendy. My mom came home Friday night. I'm here now and both she and my sister are sleeping. I think I will run an rebrand and come back. How's your mom feeling?

Yes, Tricia, Max us keeping me on my toes.I left Max when he had come up to 65 again. He ate right after and it's late in the cycle so he should be fine. There was a little food left on his dish and I vet it will still be there when I return.

So tonight I think Max has started a bounce. I was right that he didn't eat the rest of the food that was out while I was gone. I think he slept in his corner the whole time. I think he bounces more when he drops into the 50's.
