I think the ketones are gone. The stick is beige with only a slight pink tinge. I am reading it as negative but still giving lots of water. Will post bg after shooting.

I need to go back over my posts - someone left the name of the meter that checks ketones also. I will definitely get that one after this scare.

I would like a very uneventful day today. If fact, I would take an uneventful week. Numbers seem good so I am not sure why the ketones yesterday. I will be printing the information you all sent. Thank you so much.

I m pleased to see Harley in the yellows again!Maybe you can google the meter pattie...I found this one:

It is good if you keep giving him added water and snacks...and do watch for symptoms along with doing the urine testing if you can.
I would call the vet to ask about the meds and their possibly giving a false positive, ya know?

happy to hear you think the ketones are gone... may they never come back!
the precision extra meter is the one pat linked above. quite a few have used it and love it! the downside is the strips are expensive, but if you only use it occasionally (not for every single spot check) the meter will probably be worth it's weight in gold.

harley is on his 6th cycle at this dose. between appearing to be "stuck" and the ketone scare last night, i would take the dose up to 7.75u tonight... unless something unusual happens between now and pmps. i'd really like to see his whole range come down.
what do you think?
 
Harley did hit a blue today..+7.5 173. He is now up to 341 PMPS so I think there is a bounce. Hopefully this will be the highest he goes. He has not peed since I got home, so I don't know about ketones. Vet emailed me that she looked online and steroids can produce a false reading for ketones. Harley has been on this budsonide for so long that I wonder if that is what it was.

FWIW, I would increase too. Harley had that one green a week ago, but he hasn't gotten back there so it would be nice to bring his range down (especially the top end of the range).
