Yesterday's Condo

Not a bad bouncette after last night's pj party. I didn't want to stop testing too early last night since Cinco has discovered the fun of double dipping! I don't know where he is going with all this weird stuff - double dipping one day, late nadir the next. I'm not sure which Cinco this is anymore - the original or the alien replica. I guess I'll just play along and see what happens!

Last night, right after DH got into bed, I gave Sasha a little snack. She had no sooner finished it and climbed up to cuddle with DH when she began heaving! :o I didn't want to grab her and toss her on the floor as I used to do before her surgery, so I grabbed a nearby paper towel and held it under her mouth as she threw up. Bless his heart, DH contributed his big hands and we managed to get through the incident without having to change the sheets! Poor baby. I guess she needs the anti-nausea meds twice a day after all. I got up half an hour earlier this morning to give her some Ondansetron, then went btb. By the time I gave Sasha her breakfast, she'd had an hour to let the drug take effect. I guess it worked. She was munching on dry food when I came into the room and cleaned her plate for me. I checked on her an hour later and she seemed fine. So for now we'll do Ondansetron every 12 hours. Not sure how many days we'll need to keep it up, but for at least today and tomorrow. Tuesday I have to take her for bloodwork, so we'll skip the Ond and give her Cerenia two hours before transporting. Hopefully she'll be okay after that until the next treatment. After the next round, I think I'll start preventive nausea meds on Day 2 and keep going for a week. The strange thing is that she doesn't seem to feel unwell. She's perky and just as active as she has been, not hiding in the closet or anything. I guess I should just be grateful for that. This is all a learning process!

Harvey started the day throwing up foamy, clear liquid. I gave him some pepcid and he had no qualms about hoovering up his breakfast, but he did seem to have to strain a bit going poo, so I think I'm going to add Miralax to his food daily, too. I did the age calculator on Tanya's site the other day, and here are my kitties' ages: Minka - 78, Harvey - 76.3, Sasha - 71.3 and Cinco about 65 (based on vet's estimate of his age)! No wonder they are having these issues - just like older humans! None of them behave as if they are that old, or even close! They must take after me - people are always telling me to act my age!

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Elise's DM, and Wendy's DM, as well as Marje and her family.

It looks like Cinco is clearing his bouncette. I'm glad the Ondansetron is helping Sasha. That was great of your DH to help when she threw up on the bed. Poor Harvey. I'm glad the Pepcid helped.

Double dipping sure is an odd one. Hopefully a nice calm slide tonight. I hope Sasha eats well tonight and doesn't vomit again. Are you giving the ondansetron twice a day? For the next chemo what do you think about starting it the day before? Just a thought.

Is Pod Cinco coming back again?

I guess Skooter wasn't interesting enough for them to keep as Cinco and China are.....

Speaking of, he was just on me, hissed and jumped off, perhaps he knew it was near test time? Time to wrangle him up....

I hope all your babies are feeling better!!!

Poor Sasha. I think keeping up with the anit-nausea meds for a few days longer than you think she needs them sounds like a great plan - better safe than sorry and stay ahead of it. Interestingly, my Dad seems to be responding in a similar fashion; his chemo treatments are on Tuesdays (2 down so far), and he feels perfectly fine for 4-5 days, THEN the crappy feeling sets in for a couple days. We're also new to this...interesting to see that Sasha seems to be following a similar pattern. I hope she's feeling better today!
