cant manage either of our vehicles with the wonky leg, so left the vet's procedure list in the grandbeans' car yesterday.

here it is...she was looking for some input from the forum and wanted to consult w/some of her peers before we take him in for dental;

scale & polish
IDEXX pre-anesthetic blood workup
IV catheterization
Glucometer pre- and post- procedure

patient to call with bg reading am prior to appt
she felt that no extractions would be necessary, but if so, they would administer a pain injection.

Starting the day in yellow eh Binks? that's good buddy...where do you want to go from there?
Did she draw blood yesterday Celi?
Did you speak with her today?
Did she give you a price?
I added all I know about dentals to your condo yesterday...I have nothing else to really add...what information would she like from the forum?
Usually with extractions, there is pain meds sent home too.
Did she say anything about insulin in the morning?

thank so much for the input, pat. no, she felt like with his last blood workup and the copy of his SS, he didnt really need blood drawn yesterday, tho they'll do one prior to the dental.
I think it will be a day or two before she calls...she was really thrilled at how binks looked yesterday...he was in really rough shape last time she saw him, and she didnt know what to expect after not having seen him since june. she told me that she didnt want to overstate the obvious, but that finding the forum was a blessing given the fact that we were not in a position to see the vet at the time, and that the amount of knowledge available here could be an educational tool for any caregiver and their vet. her list of preferred foods shared some of the brands on janet & binky's. we discussed using the less spendy monitors...she has DCIN business cards now, Venita sent some to us and said it was fine for me to pass them on.
We actually spent as much time talking about FDMB as we did about binks, he didnt mind cuz she was checking out the wonky leggies and he enjoys her ministrations..he's compliant with other vets, but he really likes this one. and she didnt miss a beat when i told her about the Dorothy psuedonym...said it had been far too long since his sense of humor had been displayed at the clinic.

the vet in WA may not have known much about FD, but thank goodness she knew this gal in vet school...
she hesitated a little over the greens on his SS, but when i showed her the hypo instructions from the forum, she was good with it.

she did spend some time cracking up over the Ginger Home Alone thread...(yep...celi showed up with a file folder of stuff from here)

quite a day you & shadow had yesterday...can't believe i missed it.

estimate w/out extraction or pain meds was $320...with was $460.

ha! the beanster collapsed after her condo-hopping marathon, and a good thing she did, because i have uncovered her sin of omission re: my vet trip.

i have gained but .6 of a lb...am at my ideal weight 9.18 lbs!

oh yeah, this girl's keepin' that svelte figure...

he's got me scratching my noggin a little here...tho i did feed Friskies sea captain's choice & dont find it on the carb list.

and I feel it would be prudent at this time to throw out this disclaimer:

my earlier posting frenzy was brought on by a combo of FDMB withdrawal symptoms from no-news monday and my severely diminished capacity this morning caused by my absolute lightweight status when it comes to pain medication.

so if i posted anything off-color or unintelligible, i abjectly apologize.

Bear in mind that silly doesnt count, as we all know that silly is a continuing theme in the my repertoire...

that is one of the benefits in living out here in frontier...living expenses are definitely less, Roni.

gotta tell you though, i almost fainted the 1st time i drove out to this clinic...it's state of the art, huge...and i said "oh binks...i'm going to have to prostitute myself to afford this place"

he looked at me sadly, and said..."honey, at your age, if that's the only way we're getting money, - i'm gonna DIE"

We've created a monster!! i started looking for the 3rd pkg of test strips i picked up on 9/6 (because, after all, there are only 25 or so left in this pkg)...and thought...there's no way i've used 125 strips in the last 7 days...then i looked at the SS.

Sienne and Ronnie will be proud of me...

apparently he's following all his buddies there! fed him a touch of MC with his LC minimeal, mainly because for the first time he's really not being patient about ear pokies...been fussing just a little about his "only ever poked once" left ear. vet just cleaned them out a little...it seems to be that she loosened some of the wax deeper inside and he's wanting it rubbed. also for the 1st time since day one of bg tests, i'm having to really work over his right ear with warm cloth and rubbing, and still some readings are taking 2 or 3 pokes to get him to give up any of the red stuff.

dorothy is not excited about multiple stab wounds...

Go Binks! what a good kitty. he's having a great evening. Surf it, fella. I know what you mean about the test strips. Where do they go? It's mind-boggling.
 
i realize i only have a few days data to base this on...but i think that my dinking around with his food at night might be the cause of his rising the last cpl pm cycles.

i'm looking at what i'm calling MC, and it's the Whiskas Seared Ahi Tuna in Sauce, and can find nowhere in the lists that gives me carb info for that...so NO IDEA why i placed it in the MC row. I mixed it half and half in his minimeal at +1 when he went from 99 to 71, and gave him 2 bites of it at +4 as shot treat.

think sticking to the LC and monitoring his sore lil ears off at night is the way to eliminate that as a cause.

Generally speaking anything "in sauce" or "in gravy" is increased carbs. and likely HIGH.

If Binks really looks forward to surf & turf at night...why not just use plain Tuna?
 
thanks blue...i figured it might be due to that. i love it when i'm just sure of something and then realize i have no info to back up my certainty.
