Yes, bean fail caused this, one way or another. Reuben had had a miraculous return to (apparently) completely normal health yesterday.
All was well, much more than well.
And then the bean failed.....And Fell.Asleep.On.the.Job (never ever imagining that it could be possible).
So, what transpired between (+4) and (+7) will never be known.
What is known is that when I woke up at (+7) things seemed to be normal. I took the bg reading and all was fine. Then I remembered that I had completely forgotten to give him his medication at shot time, and promptly administered the antibiotic and pepcid, but this time with a syringe instead of in food, as he was used to.
He threw up a while later. Then he ate. And then he went and hid in meatloaf position. Things were going very badly very quickly.
Remembering the long days of illness we just came out of, I quickly administered a 0.1ml dose of bupe. (I knew better than that.)
I had already learned that he does best on smaller doses overlapped of this medicine. He couldn`t handle the higher dose all at once and ended up guzzling water and hanging over the water dish and feeling absolutely miserable for a few hours. Somewhere in there I had the brilliant idea that maybe he might need to use the litter box so I put him in it (it was brand new, just purchased, just installed) and he tried to eat the litter.
 ohmygod_smile
A number things can cause this to happen, and in this case I suspect that his acute reaction to the larger (for him) 0.1 dose of bupe, combined with the the ongoing flea problem, which can cause anemia, -(according to my research) - was the cause.
He seems to be recovering from the acute attack...He ate a good breakfast and is sleeping in a very relaxed position right now. His eyes look good, he is moving well and all P's are in place. (Ever vigilant about the prezzie situation I must note that I have not witnessed a gift and have just turned the hiney-cam©leslie back on.)
His numbers today will tell us how quickly he is getting back to normal.
So far we have: AMPS 373 +1/331 +2/260
If anyone feels they are coming to a different conclusion based on the evidence presented here and any information we may be forgetting, this totally sleep deprived bean would be ever so grateful to hear it.
Also any advice for stabilizing once again, will also be greatly appreciated.
Thaaaaaaaaank Youuu
----------------------------------------------
Note on the flea situation: We are having a Bruce Willis/Die Hard worthy battle with fleas, caused by a recent move to an area of high humidity and extensive vegetation, coupled with complete lack of experience with this brand of terrorism. We have to wait until the 22nd to re-apply the Frontline, and are hoping that the Adams flea bombs and carpet powder ordered from PetSmart will have arrive for that date (although the fact that they waited 5 whole days to get it out of the warehouse is not encouraging  ). (Edited: It turns out the Adams order is still in the warehouse 1 week after ordering. )
----------------------------------------------
Meds
Potencil 50mg bid
pepcid 2.5mgbid
bupe as needed (0.1ml 5am 9/13)
miralax as needed.
