Figaro did *great* at the vet. :) They ended up just doing a teeth cleaning, no extractions necessary, no periodontal issues, yay! Thanks for all the dental vines :bighug:

I skipped this morning's shot (per vet's instruction) and that, plus what may have been a bounce from yesterday's lows, plus vet stress, means he is super high (434 about an hour ago).

He is still a little goofy from the anesthesia (he seems kind of high-strung). And he is clearly hungry! I gave him a bit of food when we got home, but he is erm, very ready for dinner :nailbiting:

Is there any reason not to give this PM shot early, since I skipped this AM? I would give tomorrow's AM dose at regular time, about 13.5 hours after this one.

As long as you are 12 hours apart, you are usually OK. The “usually” is that some anesthesia induction drugs will lower the BG. As long as he’s not trending down when you shoot, and honestly, as high as he is, probably no problem.

And YEAH for dental over. Just feed him small amounts of food at once. Anesthesia can also play with the GI system.

You can shoot early as long as he is eating. I'm glad things went well at the vet.
Thanks Carla! I went ahead after I saw your post. He is most definitely eating :woot:

Definitely not trending down.. PS was 510! One hour probably won't help much, but it's something.

Good tip! Small meals was my instinct too.. much to Figaro's chagrin... he is waiting already for second dinner

I'm so glad to hear that Fig is home and eating well! Best on getting that number back down to the normal...it must have been a stressful day for him. I'll be he's happy to be home :)

I think he is! Lots of purring and asking for pets. He was a little disoriented for a couple hours, poor guy. But now he has clean teefs, and we don't need any nasty antibiotics or other stuff, so I am grateful and glad to have taken care of it now :)
