9/13 Bill AMPS: 127, +3: 51, ??? Low numbers, Need Dosing Advice

We've been in mostly blues & greens this week (yay!), and we're reducing his insulin (doing my best to get .25u - we need smaller syringes!!).

I'm wondering if Bill might be headed towards remission, or if it's just clear that his body wants .25u (instead of 1u), and this will be what it looks like for him to be controlled?

He didn't have insulin at all yesterday, because his numbers were too low for me to feel comfortable giving him insulin. Would you have given .25 at all yesterday??

ETA: his +3 is 51. We keep getting into scary territory.

Can you test again at +3.5, please?

Do you have honey/karo, high carb foods, lots of strips? Do you have to leave the house?

It has been found here that the slower a cat is taken off insulin, the better the chances of a strong remission. There are two doses below 0.25 – 0.1 and one drop. But I'll let people more experienced than myself weigh in on that.

Thank you!! Just tested, and he's in the 70's. I gave him a tablespoon of pate (he was following me around, acting hungry). He didn't eat the entire bit, but enough that helped him. And, we do have a hypo kit (Karo syrup and our toolbox) just in case.

We are riding in these low numbers, which is great, but I'm having trouble deciding when to give him his insulin - I was thinking anything over 100 would be safe for the .25u?? He's doing SO GOOD, but it's scaring me, ha.

We cross-posted.
Great that Ravyn has come up. But food wears off. Test again in 30 minutes.

Ravyn is doing great. Once Ravyn is in safe territory, you can change the title of your thread. Put up a question mark and add "low numbers, dosage advice needed."
