Good Morning World! Welcome to our home! Yesterday

AMPS 286

Looks like Mr. Liver just couldn't resist joining our dance last night - he's bouncing today. I'm not taking a reduction on this drop either because, as usual when he does that dive, he just didn't eat enough. One of these days we'll see low numbers then continuing low numbers with no bounce THEN I'll start taking reductions and we'll go OTJ! Won't we Pook? The low runs are getting longer and longer so we ARE progressing. '200' numbers now make him droopy - they used to make him feel better but now that his body is getting used to the lower numbers, those highs aren't so fun.

Yesterday morning when I let Scruffy out for the day, I left the greenhouse door open for a bit. When I took his food back out about half an hour later, I heard 'thump...thump' above my head. I looked up, a poor little female hummer had flown in the door - my roof is clear, she kept flying against it trying to get out. She was SO scared and tired. I grabbed my broom, talked to her for a minute until she started paying attention to my sounds instead of being so frantic, held the broom bristles up toward her, she grabbed on and we slowly went out the door. Twice yesterday afternoon I got 'swooped' by a little female - I like to think it was her saying Thank You! What a special thrilling time....

I have to share a link to another posting yesterday - made me laugh SO hard! Max&EmmasMommie post HERE

Thoughts and prayers for all needing them today. Carolyn's (CD/Big Mac) doing better after hip surgery but having blood pressure trouble...we hold her close today.

BIG HUG TO ALL!!!

Lyresa,

That used to happen at my house with little birds. They would nearly knock themselves out trying to make it out the bay window. One did knock himself so silly that he passed out. I rescued him from the floor before Max found him; but we thought he was dead. We sat with him on the lawn and worried until he woke up. Then, we put him in a tree, but then, we watched in horror as he started to fall out of the tree. It was like a cartoon. He started listing, and slowly rotated around until he was hanging upside down by his feet!!!! Then, he just stayed there. I guess they are designed to rest that way? Anyway, eventually he was gone, and we didn't find him on the ground. Max was inside the whole time. We hope he made it.

Awww Lyresa, what a nice thing to be able to do....to save a little birdie's life. I love the hummers; they are so gentle, except when they are defending "their" feeder. They crack me up when one decides all feeders in one area belongs to him/her, and dive-bombs any other bird trying to use one.

My living room has North and South windows, directly across from one another, and at certain times, I have to keep curtains closed, or a bird will think it can fly through.
I've seen too many birds knock themselves silly, or worse.

Oops, this is KT's condo. :-D I hope he's coming down for you. It sure gets boring looking at the same color all day.

Hi guys .. it's always nice when our kitties start getting more and more used to the lower numbers .. it can be a gradual change, but it's still exciting! Poor birdie .. I used to work in a shop that had clear glass doors .. we had many birds try to fly through and didn't make it

Hey, Lyresa -

How sweet that you were able to rescue that little hummer! :-D

Hope KT has come down nicely today.

Have a great evening -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Love the hummingbirds. Always hear them before I see them in the summer.

Glad you and Kitty are doing well.

Hi Lyresa, KT is making progress, at his own leisurely pace, still its progress.
Nice job rescuing that poor scared hummer, she surely is grateful. We revived a male hummie last year that hit the window and he kept buzzing around us when we were outside, at least I think it was him. Have a great evening!

You are a heroine to that little lady Hummer! I love these birds, too. Our 4 summer residents who visit our feeder and fight over the food have already left on their migration, but I always leave the feeders up for a few more weeks so that those coming from further north will have some energy food.

KT, your mamabean is terrific (but you already know that)!

Have a great evening,

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

You must emit the most awesome aura for that little bird to trust you and get on the end of the broom - or maybe it had just heard the gossip around the neighbourhood about you being the rescue queen
