no condo from yesterday, Shadow's bean had a meltdown. A control freak's worst nightmare - when she realizes there are things outside her control.

But we are back today with a new sense of purpose. I appreciate the support yesterday, everyone's kind words were very touching. It has made me really hungry, getting caught up on yesterday's condos. I'm not one for sweets, it was Carolyn's pizza that got my mouth watering.

Shadow and I spent some cuddle time yesterday that was unrelated to ear pokes. I put some AB ointment on her ears, one ear seemed very tender, and we took a break from so much testing. I sat outside, watched the last of this season's hummingbirds flit around the yard. And worked on some attitude readjustment. Pat's Debbie Downer had nothing on me!

And I made other adjustments - if Shadow's eyesight is worsening, then I need to make her world a little smaller and easier for her. So last night I put the automat close to where she sleeps so she doesn't have to go as far for it in the night. And I was careful to put snack-sized bites in it, not regular meals. She did a lot better with it. All her P's are in place. I can tell she's feeling good, she's under the hubz' desk, rubbing her head on his foot - so sweet.

So we are starting the day in greens - a good omen, I hope.

I'm glad things are looking brighter for you today. I think we all go through those moments, but the cats always pull us through.

Nice AMPS, please get some early spot checks this cycle.

I'm always amazed when people don't seem to understand that my moods are affected by my kitties. I swear, there is some gene that's missing from people who are without that degree of caring, concern, or empathy. How could you not be worried about Shadow? When Gabby had emergency surgery several years ago, I took a week off of work. I will rearrange my schedule if her numbers are too low for me to leave the house. You do what you need to.

And, you did the best thing a control freak could do -- you looked at the situation and did some problem solving.

It sounds like a vet appt. may not be a bad idea so you can get Shadow's eyes checked.

Very nice green today Shadow. Sorry to hear about your eyesight. It sounds like your momma bean is doing a wonderful job taking care of you and is able to make some adjustments to your feeding. If you could only see your condo over the past month. Wow !!!! Give her an extra head butt today. k?

Hey Kim...glad you were able to let us know your frustrations yesterday. Venting can be therapeutic. And good for you for taking care of yourself by taking some time to enjoy life a bit. It sounds you made some good changes for your sweet Shadow. Good job.

nearly thought twice about shooting that 83, now I'm glad I did because she's 130. prolly over-reacted with MC. her onset is usually +3-4, I'll recheck then.

the vet commented on her cataracts when we were there in June, I'll have to read up and see what can be done about kitty contact lenses. kidding. sort of.

My Shadow's eyes are cloudy...some days it is worse than others. Check with your vet though...
You know, that +1=130 is not a really big rise considering you gave her MC...

Did I ever tell you how important the +2s are? :lol: Only kidding...I kinda think every number is important, especially when one is seeing nice low numbers. My poor little boy is SO good though. He looks up at me when I come to find him..."oh..you need me again Mama?" I would like to look into the IV monitors though...it would be so much easier for both of us. :o

They are precious to us, aren't they? They take things in their stride and show such grace and elegance. They don't get impatient or depressed it seems. I wish I could be more like my sweet kitties. I am learning patience though. I have no other choice, right?
But the elegance and grace are a bit out of my reach I think... :-|

Not to worry. I kinda did the same thing last night...gave a tad of gravy on Curry's LC....learned that she really didn't need it......so now I have more data....Its good to know what the LC, MC and HC does to our kitties during their cycles. And the only way to really know is to experiment a bit.

Just chalk it up to get more data on Shadow for later use. If you had not given it to her....you wouldn't know this new information. So a silver lining, maybe?

one of the most effective seminars we ever rolled out in family grief counseling is the "circle of concern vs. circle of influence' topic. we feel grief, despair, anger and fear over the continuing battery of symptoms & setbacks- and it's important that we do...because those are our emotions and we have to cope with them. after that, the best response is finding the things we CAN influence, and hit them with every ounce of problem-solving ability at our disposal. And you did that beautifully! keep on doing that, but don't ever chastise yourself for experiencing the emotionally draining times either...it is in our nature and psychological makeup to do so...and all part of loving and trying to heal ourselves and our loved ones.

Hang in there Kim, you're doing a great job and everything that you can do. I had a cat named RatBoy who developed cataracts around 2yrs old. This was many years ago and I could not afford to take him to the eye specialist, but he had a very happy life. We had to keep everything in the house in the same place, he would run into things if left in the middle of the floor, but he still went outside and did everything the others cats did. Kudos to you for trying to make things easier on Shadow, for indulging your sadness and for coming back at the problem with renewed vigor. We all understand.

nice green day for the Shadow-girl. shot her regular dose and fed her regular LC supper. if she is still dropping at +1, I'll give her MC snack.
 
+2 102 gave another snack - LC with a bit of gravy. loaded the automat with 3 snacks of LC to be eaten during the night and finished at +8. worked well last night. we'll see what tomorrow brings.
