Pirate Fitz's Condo Cove

Avast matteys!

The Pirate awoke while the stars could still guide her boat and decided she wanted breffis. So Mommy Crew was awoken for early galley duty. Afore such repast could be prepared, the Capt'n swashed and buckled her way through a pre-dawn BG test.

As The Pirate's BG tests no longer reflect AMBG or PMBG per-se' we're counting hours off insulin, from the last shot given the morn of 9/8. Until the dread NO SHOT NUMBER of 140 is breached, Pirate Fitz's pancreas will brave the blood sugar regulatory waters alone.

Breffis, of the LC variety, was served and The Pirate proved her metal with a hearty appy. (Mommy Crew cringes at the thought of putting anything on her stums until there's a nice base of coffee/half & half topped with a dash of cinnamon)

These are dangerous seas - fraught with the kracken of high desires and the dangerous cliffs of Relapse Point. All expectations are battened down tight to weather what comes. Savvy?

Hoping all farers of ocean and land alike have a positive day with glorious sunny numbers and calm seas to travel.

Re: 9/12 Fitzel -115 (93 hrs insulin free)

His Royal Highness bids me to inquire whether the Pirate would like round windows in the wing of her mansion on the Emerald Cliffs which overlooks the lagoon, so as to remind her of her ship while she is on land? He also wishes me to congratulate Pirate Fitz on her fourth fully juiceless day, and commands me to inform both the Pirate and her Crew that he continues to send his very best, patented Pirate-Vines to ensure her safe arrival as and when she feels ready!

Hugs,
Janie Jane

P.S. Hang in there, Shai and Judith, and don't forget to breathe, you guys!! Remember, officially this is a Food Trial, which is a good thing in that it's MUCH less pressure, k?

Capt'n Fitz's number tonight was much higher than what I would have liked to see, but she's still under my no shot number of 140.

I know you posted this last night, but next time you see a higher number would be a perfect time to try a food test. You got 126, so feed a snack and test again in 3 hours to see if the number is lower. If not, test again at the 4th hour because some cats take that long to bring the number down at first. If she goes down, great!

If you think about your own body and how it works, when you eat something your BG might go up at first, but the food stimulates your pancreas and it releases some of your own insulin to bring the number down. That is what we're rooting for here.

Avast and G'Morn Libby and Lucy! I tossed a line to your post from yesterday's condo and brought you on over. Thanks for the great info. Your expertise and experience are truly a North Star on this journey.

Shai:

Libby's comments reflect what I was referring to as a "food test." How about getting a test at around +3 if that's possible?

@Lowly Minion Janie Jane - arrrggghhh and a hearty lift of the early morning grog to such mansion design finery. Nothing short of such spit and polish detail would be expected from his Majesty's Royal Court builders, but it's clear Emperor Karre' has exquisite tastes and extremely high standards of all the minions of his entourage. Consider the gentle round slope to the hand cut leaded glass windows approved. The Emerald Cliffs sound most appropriate and breath-taking as we're sure is the view of the lagoon.

Mommy's Shai and Judith find breathing freely a bit of a tougher go these last few days, but keep reminding themselves that no matter how long the journey lasts - each hour The Pirate is off insulin is a victory worthy of celebration. Savvy?

@Tara and Buster - your support of The Pirate on her journey into the uncharted waters of no-insulin is hugely appreciated. Each hour breached deserves it's own hoist of a mug o' grog. Here's one to you!

@Sienne & Gabby - Ay. Ay. Mommy Crew will retrieve Food Trial info today if numbers stay below 140. Appreciate your input and thank you for checking in on us. The Pirate and Mommy Crew knows long-Time sea-farers have the best maps to the treasure. ;-)

@PeterDevonMocha and Melanie & Racci - The Pirate sites your vessels and raised flags of support with much pleasure. She'll be disembarking several kegs of her finest rum to your care, so lower yer masts and make way for onloading of supplies. This be the good stuff!!! :dizcat

SHAI.... PLEASE KEEP POSTING THOSE TEST NUMBERS! WE'RE ALL ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR UPDATES !

Re: 9/12 Fitzel -115/102 (98 Hours Insulin Free)

Another 5 hours have passed and The Pirate is bringing herself down again.

This test was given two hours after a 1oz LC snackers in the Capt'n's quarters.

@Chris & Tucker - heave ho, matey and weigh anchor. That barge you see off your port bow be piloted by crew of the infamous Pirate Fitz. It carries a mighty cargo of the Capt'n's finest spirits for your imbibing pleasure. :dizcat

My instructions from Pirate Fitz is to maintain current course and not to disturb her nap time.

Mommy Crew

There be a treacherous maelstrom stirring these waters. And Pirate Fitz, being the fine cut of a Pirate Capt'n that she is, barreled recklessly into their midst. Waves nigh on to the dreaded NO SHOT number of 140, roil her ship, tipping it this way, then that way, threatening to shred her sheets and shatter her mast into kindling.

Beware your terrain Pirate Fitz, thar be the razor edged shoals of Relapse Point ahead of ye. No light house here to guide a wayward Rapscallion with a loose hold on the helm.

Batten down all hatches. Tie off the main line. Secure the Rum. For heaven's sake, SECURE THE RUM!

Hard a stern. Now. Now.

Fitzel- get back on track..if you go any higher the mean mommy will have to give the dreaded shot and then test, test, test....I know for a fact how much you hate the testing....
I know you are missing your "full" meals but trust me smaller ones throughout the day and night are much better for you... and your pancreas...
do not make me come back for a visit you silly pirate girl   I'm on my way if you do not simmer down!!!!

Suddenly the winds diminish to a deathly calm - an unnatural stillness comes over the waters until the waves are mere ripples, soon replaced by a glassy luminescence. Pirate Fitz's paws are white clawed around the wheel, not trusting the unexpected quiescence. Near exhaustion, all Hands turn questioning whiskers to their Captain... un-meowed fears glistening in their round eyes.

Pirate Fitz brooks not their stares - 'I'm hungry!!! Bring me some fine meaty treats. And be quick with it or find yerselves tied to the port side rails for ballast."

And so, during the eye of the storm, Capt'n Pirate Fitz was fed a quick snackers. But then, probably more expected by her minions than the good Pirate herself, the storm returned, and all hands, except those tied to the port side rails for ballast, skittered back to their stations.
