Never Forget!

This picture with the World Trade Center on the horizon was taken from our roof deck in Brooklyn many years ago. Our neighborhood lost half of it's firefighters on 9/11. They were a first- responder unit.

Good Morning, L&LL,

We are remembering all who lost their lives on 9/11. It was a horrific day, burned into our memories. Stu was our 9/11 kitty. We adopted him shortly after the attack because we thought that the shelters would soon be full of kitties who had lost their beans.

Will continue this condo later. Rusty is OK. We have to go to a lunch-time meeting of our mountain club's Outings Committee to plan the fall outings.

Oh Ella, it is indeed a sad day and so sorry about all your fallen first responders. How wonderful that you took Stu in afterwards.

well... a small bright blip would be that it's also my birthday. It was pretty horrible to wake up to the news on that day.

Happy Birthday, Rhiannon! I can well imagine how awful it must have been to wake up to that news. I was on the subway when the first plane hit. The subway line was an elevated and we could see the smoke coming out of the WTC, but no one knew what had happened. The whole day was a trauma. Weather-wise it was an incredibly beautiful late summer day.
