9/11 Rhiannon turns 50

Morning All,

I know someone is going to see my name on the birthday list so I'll just put it out there any way.

The only thing that feels different to me is I have realized there are certain outfits that just don't look right on a 50 year old..... I shouldn't
try to dress exactly like a teenager ....
and I say that because I know a few moms around here that do.... it just looks like they can't accept they aren't teens.....

I am doing fine with this big number....
don't really feel any different at all. :lol:

well, I guess I do have a lot less energy..... but I'm not sure that is anything new. I remember being tired at 16 /17.


We might not get to do any celebrating tonite though.....
It rained all day yesterday ( yippee!) and it's supposed to continue all week..... there is a pendant light right over me/ my chair arm/ and computer sitting on the floor
and there is this drip.... coming thru the light.....
my DH got on the roof ( we have a metal roof) and found some loose bolts....tightened them but the drip continues....
so he's got to work on that....
and will probably do that when he gets home from work..... unless he can't get what he needs at our little hardware store....
then we have to go to Santa Fe to Home Depot.
If so, we'll go out to dinner too.....
otherwise, looks like I'll have to cook. :roll:

I do have a baskin-robbins cake in the freezer. And we went to Red Lobster last Saturday for our Albuquerque trip.


Shadow did lay on me in the night.....and give me kisses....
I swear she was going for licking my face 50 licks.... but I didn't count.
I was just a little happy she stopped..... so I guess she gave me a birthday facial.

A birthday facial (with exfoliation!) how cute! My 50th was just another day - I'd just moved to a new state so I didn't know anyone.

Hey, send some of that rain to Oregon - it's in the 90's here! Ugh.

Happy Birthday to a fellow Virgo! I'm at +2 on you, Rhiannon! :lol: :lol: It IS just a number, but if you get concerned, do like I do & make yourself a year older about 1 month after your BDay. I always forget I did that (memory went long ago) by the time BD comes around again, so instead of being depressed, I'm pleasantly surprised! ohmygod_smile

Funny how those pesky leaks ALWAYS show up when its raining! Hope it's an easy one.......

Cake sounds really yummy - hope you get some time to dancing_cat , too!

Hey Rhiannon,
When I turned 50 I was elated because I was competitive racewalking at the time and 50 was a whole new age category. My 2 teammates and I won the 10K national team championship in the 50-55 age group that year!! I hope you will have something just as special to remember your half-century.

Have a wonderful celebration this evening. No cooking dinner allowed!

As for being tired? It takes a long time to make up for all the FD sleep you missed!

I was online just after midnite and saw your name pop up on the b-day list, but it was past bedtime and I figured I could catch you sometime today :-D

I felt 40 hit me a lot harder than 50 did. When I hit 5-0, and younger people made a big deal out of it, I just smiled and said "Yeah and in 15 years, half of your paycheck will be deducted and go towards paying MY social security ;-) "

Now I just consider my age to be 50somethingorother.

Enjoy your day, but nobody should have to cook on their own birthday. ;-)

WOOT WOOT!! A great year to celebrate. Happy Birthday - hope you get to celebrate it somehow.

I'm with Ella. At the age of 50, our rowing quad gets a 30 second handicap for the longer races! :-D

Things have shifted.... my DH came home at lunch. big lull in our rainstorms ... while I was working.... and found a spot near the chimney that was puddled with water and cracked.... and peeling away....
I guess the tar/pitch/whatever is up there ( obviously not me) had been beaten by the sun.... ( the roof is at least 10 years old)
so he fixed it... ( he hopes) and now we wait for more rain to test it out....

So.... no cooking....
going to Santa Fe for dinner instead.... An Italian place called Il Vicino... and then we'll come back home to eat my cake....
much better now ! :thumbup

Came home from work and my daughter was leaving for class and said the present inside was from all of them.... which I laughed and said, are you sure it's not just you and him... (her fiancé)
but found 2 bouquets of flowers on the table.
So... I've had lunch... a kitty facial, about $340 from other family members, a bottle of wine with a pretty purple basket, 2 flower bouquets and about to leave for dinner then cake.
And I got the traditional repeatoffender birthday card from 3 others...
I'll see if I can scan it to share....
Every year I get this card, it is funny, but they keep giving it every single year...... :lol: :roll:

50??!! You're soooo young. I remember back that far.. it seemed older then than it does now :lol: And anyway.. we shouldn't be jumping around from number to number each year. People can never remember what birthday you're having. Pick a number you like, say 23? 27? 32? and then just stick with it. You still get a party every year, you just keep the same number. Easy for everyone. I've kept the same number so long, my son is now older than i am :lol:

Welcome to your FIFTIES!!! It really isn't so bad - not old at all now that I'm the other side myself :-D

How sweet of Shadow to give you 50 licks, that sure is better than a paddy paw spanking. ;-)

I'm not too far behind you... :lol: No big deal--when people ask me my age, I probably tell them the truth! :mrgreen: There aren't too many people (at any age!!!) who can climb a ladder up and down, lugging a bow, heavy backpack, a few layers of clothes and a coffee as fast as I can...AND do so with a bit of "old age" pain burning the bones...but there are many cats who can!!!
 
Oh now Chyna is really mad, that she missed TWO birthday parties yesterday!!! I'm glad you got to go out for dinner, I hope it was great. Sorry for the belated wishes, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rhiannon! party_cat drinking24
