Goooooood morning! ~O)

+11 259
AMPS 248

Droolers caught and ate a rabbit this morning. Tried bringing the carcass (what little was left of it) into the house. How fun! (Where's my gagging emicon?)

LB shows someone had a multi-poo (meaning a poo with multiple textures: a bit hard, a bit soft, and a bit really soft but not runny). From the size of it I'm going to guess Poopy. However, if Mia was a bit backed up, I could see her doing one that large.

Will try and leave work to do +3, +6, and +9 today (was home sick yesterday). If the same pattern holds true (same fud, midish yellow AMPS), I may see a high blue around +9. :-D But, we are talking Poopy here. It could just as soon be a yellow. Maybe I ought to aim for a +2, +5, +8?

Have a great day!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Ughhhh on the rabbit. Those droolers are very proud of their accomplishments.

Nice sunny start for Poopy. We are having the same multi-poo issues at my house and I am trying to figure out which of the kitties it is. Until I know, they are both getting meds. DH says it's "everybody gets a pill day."

Have a great day!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Thanks for stopping by, Melissa. Yes, the droolers love showing off their hunting skills. I'm not much of a fan, though. Ugh!

What meds do you give with the multi-poos? Thinking I may need to keep a closer eye on the LB for poo textures. (Oh what fun! :-| ) Would a change in insulin cause poo changes? If so, that might explain Poopy's higher numbers yesterday than the day before. Then again, it could simply be...he's a cat!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

I have noticed that when Tarragon drops real low and then bounces real high he gets loose stools. We have metronizadole for Tarragon and Turnup gets it when we suspect that she might have loose poos.

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Ate a rabbit? Oh my! I cannot imagine a cat can eat a rabbit, Poopy mmut be very hungry!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Thank you, Melissa.

I'm sure Poopy would eat rabbit if given the chance, but it was the droolers early morning breakfast today (their catch, the mighty hunters).

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Morning Teresa and oh wow on the drooler and the rabbit! Strange on the poo and some good info from Melissa. It's strange how it can come out with both textures. I hope you are feeling better today.
Maggie says "hi" to Poopy baby!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248

Hi guys .. yeck! What a way to start your morning .. poor bunny! It will be interesting to see where poopy is headed today .. I hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279

Thank you, Ann and PeterDevonMocha.

+3 279. Wish there was a way I could convince Poopy he's headed the wrong way. If I dare say anything, though, he'd be a stinker and do the opposite. ohmygod_smile There's still time for him to drop. He seems to ride a wave, up and down, all cycle.

Maybe I ought to try reverse psychology?

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279

I hate the roadkill on the patio.
I have an outdoor cat that does that and our yard is pretty much clear of rodents now.
The one thing we do like him getting are gophers.
But he also brings me newborn bunnies and they aren't saveable and they aren't dead.
I lock him up so he doesn't go get more when that happens.
Rabbits have an open nest and the babies are vulnerable to all predators. Guess that's why they breed like rabbits.

Hope Poopy drops back down for the rest of the cycle today.
Have a great day!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279

Hi Teresa

Let's see what Mr. Poopy decides to do today....we might start thinking about an increase, ok? But I want to see how this cycle plays out.

Have a great day!

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279,+6 277

+ 6 277

Thinking he won't make it into the blues today.

Rhiannon - Thanks for stopping by! When I have a clutch of wild rabbits (I think the newborns are called clutches), I take the dogs out on leads to give the bunnies time to leave the nest. They grow so fast it only takes about a week! The dogs usually catch them when they are almost full grown. Still yuck.

Marje - I am game to follow your much more experienced than I lead. Otherwise I'm sitting here counting out the days until I can increase because it seems Mr. Poop will need more insulin to drop down into better numbers. I'm being patient, though, and not jumping the gun on my own. :-D

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279,+6 277

If you can at least get a +11 and post it, then we can decide. It's possible he's still bouncing from the 194 and we like that to clear....sometimes it can take up to six cycles. He's pretty flat and sometimes flat yellow can mean they will get busy.

The thing that stays in the back of my mind for more insulin for him is that he was on a much higher dose of prozinc (1.6u) before he saw any green at all. I'm not suggesting that he'll need that much lantus....don't know. But I think it's likely he'll need more than .5u.

Re: 9/11 Poopy AMPS 248, +3 279,+6 277

Thanks, Marje. I plan on getting a +9 and +11 today.

I've been charting his numbers on a graph and can clearly see he was all over the place the first two days. The third day he went high by +6 then tappered down. Today, day four, he hasn't had near the movement as prior. But it's still early.

I've attached the graph, in case anyone is interested. Sometimes it's easier for me to see patterns in graphs. (Where's that nerdy emicon?)

Sorry about that. Didn't realize it would force a download.

Actually, it does help to see the graph, IMO. Especially if I look at just a couple hours at a time. Like for instance, the first 3 hours, and then compare that to what a "typical" curve is supposed to look like. 9/9 comes the closest, I think. It's only been 4 days, so he's still working on "typical", but over time, you'll see easily what Poopy's "typical curve" looks like as the lines almost repeat each other.

Marje,
Numbers without charts and figures... ? Is that even possible? :o

Carl & Bob said:

This does not compute. Numbers. Need more numbers. More charts. Pie graph anyone?

+9 268

Marje - it's ok. You don't have to look.

Thanks, Carla. I wish I'd see more blue too but doesn't look like it's in the cards for today.

Carl is so right. I was cat in a previous life and thus curious. No ...wait...I was Marie Antoinette in a previous life...that's right. Long story....

The funny thing is that I am a scientist so I think it is just the constant graphs figures things I always have to deal with that makes me   here

I think Poopy needs more juice tonight. If it were me, I'd increase by .25u.

I was actually thinking about suggesting an increase tomorrow morning. It often takes at least one cycle, sometimes up to 6 cycles, for a dose change to have an effect on numbers. Since you're working, I was hoping that if numbers were effected, it would be in the evening when you're home.

Too late. Shot .75 moments ago.

Worst case scenario, if I come home to test and get a low number and have to stay to care for Poopy...then that's what I'll have to do.

Not a problem.

I am NOT asking you to test all night long...just wondering how many hours till your regularly scheduled ni-ni sleepy time is?

Carl

PM +2 253...and I usually go to bed at +2.5 and get up about +9.75-10.

Are you suggesting I may need to get one somewhere inbetween those times? And don't you dare say yes just because I asked! (Inside joke that Carl understands. )

Nope, wasn't going to tell you to alter your schedule, hon ;-) . Just asking, lol. What I was going to suggest is a "just before bedtime" test if it was like +3 or +3.5. Had those tests showed obvious downward movement, then yeah, I would suggest an alarm just about the time REM sleep hit you
I was thinking "+2, +3, sweet dreams", honest!

I don't see anything in his PMPS and +2 to lose sleep over.

Carl

Next loaded question... :-D
How long after AMPS do you dash out the door to work?

If you test at +10 and AMPS, and see anything that makes you go :o  nailbite_smile , then of course post here. Depending on how long after that you have to leave, a test on the way out the door might tell you if you need to commute a couple times tomorrow, or just call in sick

Carl

Tell you what...I usually read for a bit before tucking myself in. I'll squeeze one more test in before tuck time. Deal? (About +3-3.5 depending on how engrossed I get.)

I usually leave for work at AMPS+.5, and plan on coming back for +3 (the routine I did today). I also have been signing in FDMB at work.

I also have been signing in FDMB at work.

Someday, somebody is going to post "Good news! Fluffy is @ 62 at +4!!! Bad news, my boss just caught me posting on the board and I missed a deadline. Got fired, but hey, she's almost off insulin, so I can afford a big cut in pay! Good news! I have plenty of strips stocked up, and now I'll be able to test whenever I want!"

Carl

Teresa

I don't think it will matter considering how you plan to test and that I wouldn't be surprised if he will ultimately need more insulin. No worries..... :-D

Tested a bit early (5 minutes) and at 241 at what I am calling +3.

I agree, Marje.

And, Carl, you're just terrible! You know better than anyone what doors can open unexpectedly. :-D

Good night.
