Morning LantusLand :)

Quick recap of yesterday: She ate 2 cans of FF yesterday, so we are cutting back some tube feeds to see if shes ready to do more on her own (SQUEE) She also found out where Ive been feeding Connick all the yummy gravy food (he refuses to eat low carb) and so now I have to figure out how to keep her out of his food. She is feeling soooooo good. I can tell. :-D And I posted a video of her awesome etube KittyKollar

New news: This morning I took the litter box out of my master closet (YAY) I think I am ready to not have her closed off anymore. She is refusing to be in there anyways. So she is back to the way it used to be. During the day, her and Connick would hang out in the bedroom, and I would let them out during the kids naptime, or if I heard scratching at the door (litterbox time) and at night after the kids were in bed. Sometimes they would be out during the day, if they managed to sneak past the kids. LOL If the kids see the cats they are all in their faces, trying to pull their tails, etc.. so Connick and Garland like to avoid all that :lol:

A note of concern (?) -->> Around 6am, I heard gagging noises. I got up and Garland was throwing up. But is wasnt really throw up... It was clear. and not very much at all. So I dont know if she got some hair stuck in her throat and gagged on it, or if it was actual throw up... But why it was clear??? I checked her tube and everything was fine. Afterwards she walked into the bathroom drank some water, ate some food, jumped on the bed and went back to sleep, as if it never happened. So....not really sure what that was about.

... Remembering 9/11 today....

She may be working on a hairball. Obviously, she wasn't bothered by it. Great numbers to start the day and keep those ketones negative!

It was time for my heart refill - thank you Violet :lol: :lol: :lol:

The clear vomit could have been stomach acid. If she does this again you can start giving her pepcid again. You want to keep vomiting to none if possible as etube kitties can cough up the end of the etube.

Regarding keeping Garland out of the other kitties food, here is what I did.

I put on a four way locking extra large cat door for my extra large Henry. I made it so he can get out of the spare room, but not in whenever he wants. This way I can control when he gets fed, but he can get out when ever he wants. I was putting him in a spare room before the cat door but I kept forgetting him in there for hours at a time ohmygod_smile

I recommended this to Natalia and Tena also for their cats with separate diet requirements. But there is a cat door where the cat wears an electronic collar/key that lets that cat in and out. If your civvie isn't a grazer like Garland maybe the door I have for Henry could work. The electronic doors are expensive. Tena sent me back some info in her search:

Cat Mate Elite door. The Petsmart doors didn't seem to have very good reviews.

What a great day for Garland!! Glad to see she's eating on her own more, what a fantastic job you've done with her :YMHUG:

Thanks... Not sure the door thing would work.. what keeps Garland out? Shes a food hunter. Probably can smell gravy a mile away LOL Connick grazes like she does. Before we would just keep putting it down, picking it up, putting it down, picking it up.. I got spoiled with not having to do that the last month... I may just have to suck it up and do it that way again.

Yah its probably less intense picking up food vs tube feeding huh.

If you went the electronic kitty door - Garland wouldn't have a key on her collar allowing the pet door to open. Only the civvie would. It's just an idea. I have a horrible memory and worse concentration. So Henry was locked in the food room many hours a day each time I forgot to let him out. The cat door is working perfectly for us. I let him in the door the old fashioned way, but if he wants out of the room, he just uses the cat door. I have it set up one way. No cat can get in the room its locked for going in. Only out is unlocked.

Fantastic news today!!!!! And her numbers look great!! No ketones!!!! WHOOOOPPPEEEEE!!!

Super job and now she rejoins life the way it was!!!

Smokey usually yucks up clear fluid after he drinks from his fountain. For him, I think that it is too much liquid sloshing around in his belly as he hops around but maybe it is a cat thing...

So glad to hear that she is feeling better!

YES!!!! You are the only one in 12 years who got both names right :) The Harry Connick one is usually a dead givaway, but everyone struggles with Garland. I have LOVED LOVED LOVED Judy Garland since I was 10 years old. I still watch all her old musicals. My favorite is "Meet Me in St Louis" :-D When I got my kitty, there was no question what her name would be LOL

Well, her PMPS was almost in the pinks. A couple hours ago I asked my hubs to pick up Connicks food bc I was going to let Garland out, about 10 minutes later I noticed he somehow forgot (?) (*rolling my eyes at my absent minded hubby) I was worried she may have wondered up there and taken a few licks before I noticed....and with these PMPS numbers, there may be a chance she did :?
