Garland was in such a great mood last night. Very playful and snuggly :-D

I forgot to tell everyone, we got our KittyKollar. They are the BEST! Totally fixed the problem. I cant say enough good things about this collar!!! It keeps the tube in place, its cute, easy to put on, soft around her neck, I dont worry about her strangling, she doesnt scratch at it. Its wonderful!

Good start for Garland. Can you get +2? It looks like this may have been a dropping number and I don't want you to get caught by surprise. (I'm a big fan of getting a +2. It may give you a hint about where the cycle is heading.)

How is Garlands self feeding and feeding in general going?

I went to that link on your collar when you had it posted and have to say it looks great keeping it in mind if the need where to ever arise here and such a great WCR on Garland :mrgreen:

It's great to see Garland continuing to make progress! I am glad to hear that the Kitty Kollar is making things easier for both of you.

Going good. Set up, feed, clean up, I can feed her 36cc in about 5-6 minutes now. So thats helpful. Those first 2 weeks or so it took over an hour for each tube feed.

Shes eating, just not enough for her calorie needs. But I think some of that is bc she doesnt have too. Im always tube feeding... I really dont know how the transition from all tube feeds to all self feed works.. She eats on her own, shes interested in food, she asks for food... but ??

Here is a (very boring LOL) video of her KittyKollar and part of a tube feed. In case anyone wanted to see how the Kollar looked :smile: I was doing it one handed so its kind of shaky, and its a cell phone camera, so you cant hear me very well LOL

Violet that video made my day!!!! What a pretty collar for a pretty girl!!!!! What a pain that long tube must be, but convenient for slack for feeding though. Glad she likes it.

Let me check out your spreadsheet and weights and give some ideas. May take me a bit though.

:lol: I think this nailpolish is left over when my 3 year old decided to play "salon" last week. Not the best polish job Ive ever had LOL

So far today she has had almost a whole 3 oz can of FF. And she usually has about 2oz overnight. Ive noticed if I put it out in 5ths during the day, she thinks its a fresh can everytime and is eating more. I also think since Ive been trying out the cheaper stuff, shes started thinking to herself "Wow, this other cat food tastes gross... maybe I will eat that FF afterall" LOL

What do you guys think about starting by cutting out the +3 feeding totally. She'll be fed at shot time and then go six hours until the next feeding. Violet can always make up a feeding if this isn't successful and we can try cutting back the feeding a couple hours before PMPS to see if she eats enough on her own at shot time.

Here is Garlands current schedule. The times vary bc sometimes I feed within 3 hours, sometimes within 4... its all based around my kids. The self feeds are when I give her food and she eats some of it. I do this through out the day, and there is always food out for her to graze on. I freshen it up every couple hours

Wake up and do first early morning tube feed- 6-7
AMPS 830 self feed (tube feed if I got a late start that morning)
around mid morning tube feed 10-11 +3ish <<---- CUT OUT THIS ONE?
mid afternoon tube feed 2-3 +6ish
early evening tube feed 5-6 +9ish
PMPS 830 Tube feed
Right before bed tube feed around 11-12

I set out a whole can of FF mixed with water overnight.. she usually eats about half.

+6 - tube feed (offer her to eat on her own first though and make up the difference with tube feeding - same with all feeding times)
+9 - tube feed

Violet does this fit with what I saw in your spreadsheet - that it works out to a cut feeding?

The PMPS feeding shouldn't be self feeding yet. I'd like to see how Garland does in the daytime for appetite. She is eating well overnight already. There is a big calorie difference between the recovery and fancy feast that we have to account for also. But monitoring her weight we should know if she's going to keep maintaining. Now that she is recovering her body will need less calories to maintain.

If she doesn't eat as much as expected after a day or two of trying to cut out the +6, she can cut out the +9/+10 feeding instead and feed at PMPS and see if this works better.

Other things we can try after a few days of consistency is cutting both of these feedings and then cutting the amount of the remaining tube feedings.

I live for my "Garland Fix" every day!! She's just so sweet, and looks adorable in her Kollar. I'm so glad it's working well for her! I have learned an incredibly amount from you guys...I can't thank you enough! Her story is just so amazing...

UH-OH

Garland has just found out where Ive been hiding Connicks yummy gravy food. Ive been feeding him waaaaaay up at the front of the house this whole time. She hasnt gone up there yet. Tonight she did.. now what am I gonna do, to feed him without her getting in it? Hmmm.....I wish my cats gobbled up their all food at once instead of picking at it over hours and hours...

PS- Connick would rather STARVE himself than eat any of the low carb foods. Ive been trying for months...

I thought when I read your SS you were feeding at +3 and +6 - I wanted to see what cutting out the +3 would do for her appetite.

Garland just polished off her 2nd can of FF since this morning :) Seems she likes it when I put it out little by little. I just keep the open can in a ziplock on the bathroom counter and every couple of hours put a little more on the plate, and shes been eating it.(hates cold food) YAY

Maverick hated cold food also and he grazed on it throughout the day. He never ate in one big sitting. Unlike my new adopticat Hef... he polishes of 12oz a day - he's a long lean solid cat with only a tiny bit of a belly pouch forming.

I have some ideas for you on keeping Garland out of the civvies food but I'll wait for your condo today. We have a set up for keeping Hef (diet managed diabetic) out of Henry's hardcore kibble holdouts food.
