Pirate Fitz's Condo Cove 9/8

Okay, I starred The Pirate's Condo Cove today (tonight actually) because there's strangeness going on in them. Good strangeness, but strangeness non the less even for a dedicated Pirate.

Two days ago, Fitz's AMBG was 125. At +1.75 she was 161 and I shot 1 drop insulin. At shot +4 she was 52, (treated with 1 Greenie), +6 she was 42, (treated with 7 Greenies, +7 she was 40, (treated with Karo and 1 tsp HC), at +7.5 she was 54 (fed her reg. dins), at +8.75 she was 52 (treated with 1 tsp HC), at 10.5 she was 43 (treated with 2 Tempatations), at PMBG she was 59. I was falling asleep by now and left her with HC and went to bed.

Yesterday; Pirate Fitz's AMBG was 131, +6 was 129, PMBG was 120. No shots given 9/9.

Today, her AMBG was, as above, 100. +9.5 she's 102. No shots will be given today.

Okay, so is her pancreas working? Is it her shed draining? Did the long keel haul in the low 40's and 50's on 9/7 jump start her pancreas? She's been bringing herself slowly, slowly down. The bump tonight from 100 to 102 is the first uptick since yesterday morning. And, thankfully, not much of one.

Her appy is great. Her demeanor is fine. Her LB habits great. No excess water drinking or peeing.

I know she could all of a sudden jump into high numbers off that long low on the 7th. But, then again......

Shai..... It sure looks like Fitzel's pancreas is trying to work. When Tuckers BG #s were low without insulin, the "powers to be" suggested I give small doses of food every 4 hours AND test his BG levels before and after eating. That way I wasn't overworking his pancreas. It was an expirament that worked for Tucker.
Hopefully those with the knowledge will give you the advice you need soon. Good luck!

GO GO Pirate Fitz's pancreas!!!!!

Good luck!! Paws crossed, fingers crossed, and toes crossed (yep I can do it)!

I had to check in and see how Fitzel is doing. Looks encouraging! At this point I would try what Chris is suggesting. If her pancreas is working, then she may be ready to bring her numbers down just with food instead of insulin. Feed small, frequent meals whenever you can. Small meals are less likely to overwhelm the pancreas and might even stimulate it to work better. It is helpful if you can mark on your spreadsheet when you give meals (you can just put a * in the cell when you feed), and it also helps if you can sometimes test, then feed a small meal, then test again 3-4 hours later to see if she brings her number down after food. You are definitely on the right track, but doing those things for s little while might improve the chances that this will last!

@Deb & Yahtzee - thank you so much for your criss-crossed toes!!! You're our first good luck toes!! This is so cool! And cooler still that you can really do that!

@Chris & Tucker- thank you for coming back and for your excellent advice. What you're suggesting makes a lot of sense and should be doable. She ate about 1.5oz of LC tonight. I promised her no more testing tonight so if her numbers are still low I'll start your plan tomorrow. dancing_cat dancing_cat

@Libby & Lucy - I so appreciate you stopping by to check on The Pirate. Thank you for seconding Chris' suggestion. Your opinion is very important to me. I really hope her numbers continue to be low and that I'll be able to implement this. Stay tuned for tomorrow numbers! :-D
