Good Morning LL! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (YUM! I Love coffee!), and Happy Sunday!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, Lil Bit, kitteh barista!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! Lola and Bug are very busy resting.... after Lola's escapades yesterday they is mega tired... so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espresso, beans from the heart of central Ethiopia. and for my mocha fans: Venti Quad orange and vanilla mocha, laced with orange swirls, topped with chocolate whip, garnished with orange zest, slivered vanilla beans and chocolate swirls....... SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of orange and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, and a chocolate caramel drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! TJ's dunking cookies and Cronuts are along for the ride.

I hope everyone had a great Caturday. Mine was catch up day, and I did get alot done, bills, laundry, shopping, all the fun stuff! I also managed a couple of short walk/hike too, all local stuff. We had clouds in the morning, but by afternoon the sun was out, and it turned our to be a very nice afternoon. I think we reached 72, with sunny blues skies, and a very nice sunset. I really do enjoy that walk/hike. The trail is nice, follows a creek down to the shore (which was so pretty in the sun), and then one has the views of the San Juan Islands and the Olympic Mountains (also pretty in the sun!) It's a great place. It was nice to see that the torrential rains he had the other night didn't do too much damage to the trails. We always have runoff issues there, and while I could see where things had overflowed, the residual damage was very minimal. YAY!

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   Bug had a trip to the vetty yesterday. When I went to scratch his head and chin in the morning I noticed his chin was a little rough, was oozing a little, so thought it best to take him and and make sure what I thought it was was actually what it was. YUPP! kitty acne! Great.... The vet ( a new one in the clinic, and I hope they keep him, as he was good, very personable and LISTENED to what I had to say) thought we could treat it topically with a cleanser. So... that is the plan. We will wait it out, see how Bug and his chin, responds. The vet also gave him a thorough once over. All is well! Except.... well.... when we examined his tushie there was evidence that he has a tapeworm. GROSS! so he also got a de-wormer to deal wit that. UGH UGH UGH. I HATE tapeworms.... I do believe we got lucky with this find, as there has been no evidence in his bedding, he does not have fleas, no signs in the LB etc etc etc... so I hope we caught it early. I will be checking the others too. Paws crossed! and yes - I still need to get him in for a cardio work-up to evaluate his heart murmur. Soon, I swear!

OK.... LOLA'S GRAND ADVENTURE! :o :o :o                      Lola and Bug have been with us for close to three months now. In that time we have not yet let them outdoors. Just precautions, and with Lola, well I just don't trust her to behave, follow the rules which are backyard only, and come in within a few minutes.... gee I wonder why!   At first hey were begging to go out, but now they simply don't, and I had really thought they'd adjusted, were going to be indoor kitties. oh HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! Yesterday morning Lola took it upon herself to claw a hole in the screen door, make it big enough that it tore, giving her a hole big enough to get through. We were clueless she had done this (you couldn't see the tear: very clever Lola!) Mid morning we wondered where she as, searched EVERYWHERE, and thought she'd found a clever hidey spot. SILLY BEAN!!! LOL: I caught a glimpse of her outside frolicking in the yard. SO with much finesse (NOT) I got her back in. What a relief, I had not lost the cat. so............ within 5 minutes she was running to the screen door and flew through the opening. Silly beans till had not seen it. So back out I went again to round up the cat.    Success as she was silly enough to stop for some grass munchies.... GOTCHA LOLA!   Well, that was that and in she was. I went to go out the front door to get the paper, and little did I know Lola was stalking me.... OH OH! From the top of the stairs she flew down the stairs and out the front door, which was only open 3", before I Even knew she was there. Ok. SO off she went on a really cool grand adventure, and off I went to try and track her down, again... . Sh was off at warp speed: to the neighbors, down their driveway, to my back yard, back to the neighbors, in their house and out again, into all his flower beds, back to my yard, front and back, back to the neighbors, back to my back yard, where I eventually was able to capture the flying kitty. I think I got as much of a workout as she did! Cat chasing 101! I have never ever seen a cat that can run as fast as she can. It was incredible! She had the best of times, and spent the rest of the day (literally, all of it) trying to figure out how to get out for another adventure, running back and forth between the Windows and the doors, .   By 5PM she had given up, collapsed in her kitty bed for a long needed nap.... well until 3AM when she decided the thundering herd needed to have a workout. OMG! WHAT A DAY!

And Elsa? missed the whole thing... sleeping in her bed. Good move Elsa!

Have a great day everyone. I'm not too sure what will be today. I hope for a hike, but will need to verify weather etc. Mt Baker is the destination. I remember the last one there, where I was rained on and fogged on etc so.... I'd like to make sure it won't be a repeat of that. ;-)

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN!!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Hi Michelle,
That was indeed a day to remember! I hope that the cleanser will help Bug's acne and that the de-wormer will do the job quickly. As for Lola, WOW!! You have your hands full, for sure. An adventurer cat. Hopefully she will learn the rules. Does she have good identification? Recently I got a Road ID for Rusty, for when we take trips, just in case. Road ID is for cyclists and runners and you can have anything engraved on the plate (Edward and I both wear them all the time). The company recently has offered a pet ID--the "scout" ID-- that fits on dog (and cat) collars. It comes in small and large. It doesn't hang down like tags. It is neat. Here's a link to the small: https://www.roadid.com/p/the-Scout-ID-(Small).

I hope the weather is good so that you can do the Mt. Baker trail. Have a grand day.

Ella & Rusty

p.s. to Elsa: love that espresso!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

I guess Bug really had a, well, bug!

Your rendition of Lola's Grand Adventure had me smiling. I was imagining how frantic I would be chasing after an escaped kitty. The picture in my head was quite amusing! It sounds like Lola had a wonderful time. You -- not so much.

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Lola sounds alot like my Zeke...crazzzzzzy kitty and in to everything. . Ive had to resort to having a spray water bottle by my door...Zeke only tries to escape when i leave and not when i come in. Maybe it's time to get a leash for her since she is so adamant about going out.

And I hear ya on the tapeworm. Grossssssss! Came home one evening and saw some pukus...and it looked like dental floss in it....oh no, it was part of a tapeworm. It was January here and I hadn't given the kitties their Revolution for fleas/Mosquitos....I do now...had to give both my kitties the pill since I didn't know who had the worms.

Love reading your updates!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Hey Lil Bit Pit!

Ha ha ha ha I'm rolling around giggling at what silly Lola did yesterday! She made sure the grammie bean got her exercise in real good! I think next time we put her in the CATapult and see just how far she can fly!

Oooooh Yuck! Bug has bugs in his bum....that is so gross! Do you have bugs in your bum? Is your grammie bean gonna make you and Lola take meds too?! :o :o

That happened to Buster last summer and my bean said we both had fleas and she gave us showers and made us both take icky medicine! I didn't like it at all and I told her so very loudly in her ear.

She also put some nasty something on us last night and said as a precaution. She said she forgot to do it last month and we may have nasties, so she needed to do it now! Why must beans be so mean.

Now that Lola created a secret door! Let's use it! It sounds like fun. I love going outside and sitting in my special chair. It's a great place to nap!

Signed Maui the Magnificent, looking forward to a nice nap or three

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

I hope Bug's acne and tapeworm go away quickly. Wow on Lola getting out. You'll have to keep an eye on her when you open any doors now that she's been out. Crazy kitty. I'm glad you finally caught her. I'm sure she had a blast. I hope you have good weather for your hike.

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Wow, on Lola's great escape!! The capture must have been a sight to see   She will be keeping you on your toes, now that she has had a taste of "freedom!"

Glad you caught that tapeworm, they are gross!!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

What an adventure! Lola has tasted freedom! No going back now! Emma know just when to take off again as you approach, then she stops and waits. What a great game!   I'll finally give up and start weeding or something, then she will come over to reclaim my attention. Gotcha silly kitteh!

I know cats are safer inside, but Emma is miserable there if it's longer than half an hour to explore. The birds (and lizards and snakes) would be a whole lot safer too! I had to go out and check that she hadn't managed to get out last night. There was a whole pack of coyotes howling right outside or fence last night. She was still safe inside even if unhappy about it.

Seeeeeeeeeeeeee! I tolds you that outside was awesome! My mean beans locked me up all day yesterday! I won't say what else they dids to me! cat(2)_steam I'm free today though, want me to comes and gets you?

Beans are so silly! They just loves to run around after us, they just aren't fast enough! Dids you climb up and run back and forth on the fence, just out of reach? Do you have a trampoline like mine? I can run and roll around right over the beans heads and they can't reach me! That's the bestest! -- Emma, willing to share outdoor adventures!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

   Lola!!!! Yikes, you are definitely going to have your hands full, now that she has had a taste of the great outdoors. You behave, little lady! It's dangerous to run around out there like a crazy cat like that!!!!

Poor little Bug...hopefully everything will clear up quickly. It's a good thing you got him in right away - excellent catch of that yucky worm that you didnt' even know was there. Phew - and, of course, ick. My vetty had told me I could use the mildest of Stridex pads on Mario's kitty acne.

I hope things are calmer there today...have a great one, Michelle!

BWHAHAHAHAHAAHAH  I imagine naps are needed for Elsa, being CEO of Coffee Cat is a BIG job. I-) And that Lola is a certified rascal.

Love the San Juans! One of my top five holidays ever was taking the ferry from Anacortes through the San Juans to Vancouver Island. It was another lifetime ago, but I loved every minute of being on the boat and the sky was blue the entire trip. On my list of "things to do again"!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Thanks for the reminder on the flea check. One of my several vet visits last month, one of the techs mentioned that it's a bad year for them this year around here. Sorry about the tapes, those are gross. A couple of years ago I found one on one of the cats at the shelter, and we promptly had to deworm 15 cats! :o Civie Theo was there at the time, and one of only two cats that wouldn't take the pill in a pill pocket. Fortunately he's changed his ways since he's come home.

When we had cats with acne at the shelter, we'd also do a warm compress a couple times a day before applying the cleanser. Hope it clears up soon on Bug.

The story of Lola sneaking outside is so amusing. Been there, done that. Thank goodness she chose the daytime to escape. Mostly black civie chose the night. I do have to watch when I open the door to get the paper or mail. Sneaky kitters! Maybe it's time to try her on a harness? Bet you could put on roller blades and go for a ride.

Enjoy your hike today - weather looks awesome. I look forward to the pictures. BTW: almost time for pumpkin and fall flavoured coffees.

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the visits today, You guys are great! I did go hiking - to the NorthCascades, Mt Baker area again, I can't seem to get enough of it. ;-) WOOT! What a very cool hike. I have been there before, but never went through to the lakes. so today that was the mission. I approached the lakes from the Artist Point Area, hiked to the Hermans' saddle and back. Next time we will go through to Bagley Lakes, and up through Wild Goose to make a more traditional loop hike. Weather was great today - sunny, blue skies, warm, and just the best views, and cookin' on those open talus slopes. Got a little warm out there. It was 80 in Baker, not too sure what it was on the mountain. Mt Baker was in and out today, sometimes the cap was cloud covered, sometimes it was not. The lakes were incredible. Iceberg Lake was the most gorgeous turquoise blue. Lakes were beautiful, one of those I will go back for, next time string in another hike and make a loop out of it. Should be fun. Today was about 8 miles, climbed about 1550 feet. Not too bad. WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Thanks Wendy, Anne, Liz, Amy, Ann, Jane, Hillary, Tena, Sienne, and Ella for the visits. Forgive me for not answering each on individually. I am beat... a poor excuse, but dinner needs to be done, removing trail dust and dried sweat (gross) needs to be done, and it is late... I have read all, and than each of you for taking the time to read my ramblings, and share in the adventures of my furkids. I'm sorry that I probably won't get to condos tonight, but I will try.... :-D THX too all too for all the suggestions for Bug - much appreiacted, ncie to now I can use stridex pads. YAY! DH says Lola spent most of the day today trying to escape - again..... aiyee! She has tasted freedom, nothing else now will do.... :?

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
I just googled Iceberg Lake ~ gorgeous!

I hope Bug's acne and (ick!) tapeworm go away soon! Sending vines his way.

I had a feeling it was a matter of time before Lola made her Big Escape  .
I pictured a tunnel dug out with a spoon, though ;-) ...
I also have a feeling this may be the first of many attempts. I can picture her flying around and saying "Weeeeeeeeee!"

And Elsa. Smart, sweet Elsa.

Have a great evening, Michelle!

Re: 9/1 LOOSE LIPS: Lola's grand adventure, Bug's vet trip..

Hi Josie - I did! oh cool on the Google. THX on Bug, and me too! LOL on Lola, and I think so too. I had hoped she'd gotten it out of her system, but it appears not. I have to laugh at the tunnel digging comment though - too funny. I can so see her with a spoon, just digging away. I loved this:
I can picture her flying around and saying "Weeeeeeeeee!"
Auntie Josie! - ~~ Elsa, Lil BIT, kitteh barista
