Dont recall Bj's nose problem, guess I missed that. I hope the vet visit helps and that helps Bj get out of the red numbers. Come down Bj!

Re: 9/1 Bj AmPs

Thanks everybody.

Yeah, Bj has had some nose trouble and I'd not got him to see the doc as soon as I'd liked. He seemed to recover a lot during the last week but suddenly the last few days he'd gotten worse. Last night he was so stuffed up with snot or pus that he was having a horrible time breathing. You could smell his breath from 5 feet. I was pretty scared.

Doc is pretty sure it's just an upper resperatory infection so he gave us antibiotics. Lungs, teeth, eyes all look okay. So we're very hopeful. He concurs that it's definately not helping his numbers.

I suppose we should keep going with the same dose for a few days? Worst numbers in 2+ weeks... Doc says there should be improvement by tuesday and if not then he's going to prescribe something extra.

Sorry to hear about BJ's infection. That can be pretty annoying. Hopefully the antibiotics will work their magic and he'll be feeling better in no time. I'm not a dosing expert and too new to the board to comment, but what I would imagine is that infections add variability to the numbers (increasing them). That's what happened with Charlie so probably it's a common occurrence. When the numbers are in flux, it's hard to make dosing changes. That said, when you're in numbers as high as you guys are, that's not good for BJ either. Suspect after 2 days of antibiotics things will already begin to stabilize. If I were you I would watch the effect after 2 days and then decide with your vet and the advice from the board. Good luck, guys. Hang in there and sorry about that kitty breath! :-D

Thanks, charliesmom.

I think I scored points with the vet when I showed him Bj's SS. He was pretty stunned and was going to photocopy it . But yeah, these numbers are nuts compared to just a few days ago. Hope we drop a bit soon!

Just saw from your profile that you were formerly the Kwaisatz Haderach. Man. Had to look that one up. I thought to myself, GEEZ I have been out of the US a long time. I don't know what the HELL he's talking about. :-D

Now that I realize it means you were formerly a supernatural being, it gives me great comfort. BJ's problems should be solved in a Jiff with all that knowledge and power!

Quick observation from your SS. He seemed to be doing quite good when you were at .5 units and then .25. I see why you decided to go down from .5 due to the few low points, but why did you decrease so quickly downwards from .25? Could that have been too quick of an adjustment?

Guess in any case those antibiotics will help the situation. I wonder if once he's had those, if he'll be nearing OTJ time! That'd be really great if that could happen. Hoping for the best for you guys.

If I have forseen my future correctly I'm going to turn into a giant worm. So it's a mixed blessing.

Hard to say. Definately needed to drop him because he was getting way too low. Might have to jump back to .5u but this darn infection is hampering progress here. Basically on wait and see mode then go from there.

Think that's a smart plan. Antibiotics first. See the effect. Then decide.

Oh, and more importantly, I REALLY SERIOUSLY do not hope you turn into a worm. Giving blood tests to a cat with a worm-like body would be really difficult.
