8th August - OTJ Day 7 - Karre AMBG (+2) 5.4/97

Good Morning, Lantus Land!

Last night and this morning both saw some bad and wholly inexplicable battery karma - when we tried to get our PMBG last night and the AMBG this morning, all we got was error warnings from the meter. So we put in a new battery. Same thing. Either it was a bad battery batch (say that five times fast) or the meter was mocking us. Ah well. We drove down to Hout Bay and bought a new battery, plus a spare one. And hey presto, we have a (+2). Now all that's left to deal with is the fact that my neat-freak tendencies sucker punch me every time I look at Karre's spreadsheet and I then find myself distinctly discombobulated.

Even so, His Kajesty's WCR is excellent. All 5 Ps present, especially the one that stands for PURRRRRS. I wonder how he'll like the Liv-A-Little chicken treats I've finally managed to order! Of our four cats, Luca is actually the one who loves chicken the most - he'll take it raw, cooked, boiled, here and there and anywhere, so to speak. Well, we'll see when they get here. Should only take a month or so

Yesterday was, of course, Karre's 6th OTJ Day and, excepting the meter mishap in the evening, it was a good one. Today, we're at ONE WHOLE WEEK OF OTJ!

Thank you all for your kind words and the lovely little dancing cats and whatnot so many of you posted! I never actually made it back to the board yesterday, so today will do: Thanks, Devon, Ann, Melissa, Liz, Leslie, Wendy, Roni, Camille, Marje, Ella and Julie! And thank you also to Libby - not just for visiting but for making me feel less like a sufferer of feline-specific OCD :-D And thanks, Melanie - I have every intention of finding a way to stick around this time!

Alas, no funny pictures this morning - I have run out of material from the African Signage book. But, for those of you who may miss the laughs, I am going bookstore-hopping (the geek's version of bar-hopping) later today. Who knows, maybe I'll find something

Our Emperor is sleeping peacefully. His (+3) is 5.3/95 - a nice surf in the upper greens. I think I'll maybe sneak in one more test before PMBG.
For now, it's off to the bookstore(s).
Happy cycling!
Jane

Hi Jane, I noticed you were mia yesterday and hoped all was well, and you were just out having some fun. Enjoy the bookstore today.

That's sweet of you, Ann, thank you for looking out for us. Yes, all was and is well. A couple of days ago, a friend of ours arrived from Germany for a ten-day visit, and that - along with the meter misfortune we had - just took up some the time normally ear-marked for LL  I've already explained to our friend, though, that especially from tomorrow through to Sunday I'll be wanting to keep an eye on the board, since Dyana, who's often around at similar times (my early to mid-mornings) as I am, is going on her trip tomorrow and will be away until Sunday.

Have a great day and thanks for the cheerleading cats! I'm off to the bookstore, and then to go shopping for green pesto ingredients. (I wonder if my focus on greeeeeen BGs has affected my cooking plans...)
Jane

You're half way there Karre! Yes, Jane, think green! I love green pesto sauce with spaghetti too!

Sorry about the battery mishap, but at least he's still green when you finally got the test done.

Have fun shopping today.

Thank you all, Helen, Denise, Dyana and Carla! His Majesty just came in and loudly demanded that he be offered afew little pieces of ostrich for his snacking pleasure - guess he's feeling perky about reaching the half-way line of his trial!

Woohoo Day 7!!! The battery gnomes at work again huh? That stinks. I just keep backup meters and throw out the old and in with the new when the battery fails. Have a great day Jane!

Hi guys .. sorry to hear about your meter luck this morning .. but that +2 sure looks good! And happy one week OTJ! Mocha is gearing up all her dancing shoes as she plans to booogy down! have a great day!

Happy OTJ Day 7!
Halfway There!

I never changed batteries in a meter. They seem to last forever. I've always replaced meters when they weren't working and never even thought of batteries. Sorry your ss is incomplete. That's annoying.

Have fun bookshopping!

Karre is doing great OTJ, keep on keeping on!
Sorry about your meter, glad it a new battery restored it. For your spreadsheet, you have lots of data before and after the battery failure, and made a good faith effort to test, consider manually coloring the cell green to reflect your testing pattern. Its easy to undo if you dont like the effect. Just a thought.
