Hey Guys,

My last condo is here from yesterday morning

+10 - 100
PMPS - 95
+1 - 93
+2 - 75
+3 - 63
+4 - 55
+5 - 63
+5.6 - 56
+6 - 71

We seem to have come down pretty gently from our bounce off of the first greens, and I decided to go ahead and shoot the 0.75 that we docreased to 7 cycles ago. It's probably another long night. nailbite_smile ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

Let's keep drifting down nice and gently!

We finally have gotten pretty good at testing, which makes this process so much easier for both of us

Re: 8/9 Smores - PMPS 95 - Shooting green for the first time

The adage of Lantus Land: Shoot low to stay low. Very nice shooting!!

Re: 8/9 Smores - PMPS 95 - Shooting green for the first time

Yeah, I felt that we had just enough data to support shooting. We'll see if that was justified!

One thing that seems to help is that Smores naturally feeds himself regular meals every 1-2 hours during the first ~8hrs of the cycle. All I need to do is put out a can with the shot, and he does the rest.

Keep a close eye on kitty. . .
nice that he feeds his own curve...

I remember our first green PS...I remember it well...some of the old timers may remember it too...

It was 09/24/2008, 8 months we'd been at it; testing shooting, more testing, more shooting... BK was up to 12.5 units of Lantus BID.
I was on business travel in San Diego, client meetings. DBF (aka the nightwatchman) was taking care of BK full time in my absence. So that night I log into LL and BKs ss and I see AMPS/84! DBF shot it, 12.5u, and walked out the door, didn't return until +7 (timed feeder feeds him at +4 and +8).

Folks here were worried but it turned out fine; his extreme insulin resistance worked in his favor that day and he was back to pink by PMPS. I thought I prepared DBF well; he was already testing and shooting when needed. I showed him how to update the ss and advised him to keep it up to date. I never dreamed that BK would throw a green PS, so we never discussed what to do if he did.

WOW. That had to be one very scary day.

I just looked through your chart. I'm impressed. One question though: When did you sleep? @-)

Easing down to a nice, comfortable level... (probably o:-)

Re: 8/9 Smores - PMPS 95 - Shooting green for the first time

some people try to manage the curve with medium carb food in the first few hours of a cycle to avoid going below 50 at the nadir. just throwing that out there for ya! marjorie & gracie, michelle & mannie, ann & tess - and others - all do it.

good job hanging on to the seat of your pants and jumping away. as long as you're willing to test, you're in control.

Any more after +4? Checked your SS but didn't see anything. A little nervous about that 55.

No need to fear!
+5-63

Now comes the hard question... What does it take to go to sleep?

Re: 8/9 Smores - PMPS 95; +4-55; Surfing green!

Unfortunately there's not enough data yet to be sure (and cats are notoriously unpredictable). Your curve from 8/7 shows a daytime nadir around +6. He's flattening out now, so it's probably safe to hit the hay. But please don't let him read this post or he'll throw you a curve ball :o

Not as compelling as I'd like, but he just had a big snack, and at this point in his cycle, I don't see him crashing. I'll finish my TV show and then check him again on my way to bed...
