A quiet day yesterday as he was high. I've seen him bounce but it's usually been in the pinks. Yesterday was a whole day in the reds. Last night he was sleeping with me, but shifting position every few minutes, so I gave him some bupe at 2:30 AM. This morning he's his sparky, happy self, and jumped up the stairs to the deck. Today autumn is in the air so I'm going to make a pot of borscht, and I hope that's the only pink I see today.

Best, best wishes to all. It was a sad week. So nice to see people reaching out in kindness.
Some things are too heavy to bear all on one's own.

Such a poetic post :-D Looks like River is just about done with those pinks . . . don't spill any borscht on that happy, sparky cat!

Mmmmm I want some of that borscht. Trade you some of the sauerkraut I have fermenting in a crock in the kitchen? :lol: Have a nice fall day - warm kitchen smells are always extra good when there's that crisp fall nip in the air!

Speaking of fermentation, I have a lot of beets and have been tempted to try this kvass.

Intriguing! I've seen kvass mentioned in some recipes - do you add it to your borscht? I shall have to try that sometime if I get some beets.

Okay that was all very off-topic as far as feline diabetes goes . . . I'm sure I could find a way to tie it in if I thought for a while, but instead I'll just justify it by saying we need to amuse ourselves in between all the testing and whatnot! Ah, there's the tie in - what to do while wearing the "patience pants".

Now that you and Amy have made me hungry :lol: :lol: I am getting ready to ferment some veggies for the first time, wish me luck!!
I do hope the only red you see today is the Borscht :lol: He's in a nice slide so far, maybe some blues??!!

I hope you and Hoot have a good day today. River bounced up for his +4 but we're discussing the matter right now, and he said he'll give it his attention after a nap in the sun.

Yesterday I fretted all through his bounce. That was silly.
Today the cats are all sunning themselves out on the deck in the early autumn air, and I'm going to channel the worry into some delicious food!

Now back to food: I'm inspired by Amy's pics! And I've never had borscht, and just had to google kvass and kapusta... they're all on my to do list now.
I'm about to peel, core, and slice a zillion granny smiths to get them ready for freezing ~ pre-made apple pie filling, apple pastry filling, apple dutch babies filling, tummy filling... goodness.

Thank you, Josie, and your comment at Bucky's OTJ party about Ripley trick-or-treating with Bucky seems like a match made in heaven!

The borscht is gently simmering away, my arms are pink up to the elbows, and the kittlins are full of energy, all of them. River just ran up the stairs, out on the deck, and right up to Jack and licked his face. Jack usually gets a box on the ears, so this burst of affection was extra-wonderful. They make me feel immoderately happy.

Those apples sound good. Apple scones, apple muffins, grated apple pancakes...
