Appetite kind of lousy again. I got about 1 1/2 Tbsp down her, but she wasn't that willing and I forced a little of it down, which I hate doing. She ate between 1 and 2 tsp snack at +9 (since I finally woke up for my alarm last night). She also ate some cooked chicken that I'd put out for her at snack time.

She doesn't sound as horribly congested this morning - can't tell if it's just a lull or if she's really feeling a little better.

I think I'm going to call the vet office when they open and find out my vet's schedule. Maybe we'll try to get an appointment today - I'm not sure yet. The idea is exhausting to me. So exhausting, in fact, I think I'm going btb for a bit. Might as well use up all of my vacation time - it's not like I'm going to be able to take a vacation any time soon.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100

I hope Kasha is really feeling better. Its a shame that the vets cost so much. I really do think they take advantage of our love for our pets.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100

aww I hope kasha starts to feel better soon ... her numbers sure are pretty this morning though!

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100

I hope your girl is getting better, Krys. It is so disheartening when our furries don't feel well and there seems like there isn't much we can do for them.

Nice amps for her today, tho! A bright light at least.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

Ok, we went to the vet this morning. She thinks the increased congestion was triggered by infection in one of the extractions, kind of exacerbating her symptoms. I gave her my internet research from the weekend and she agreed with my suggestion of azithromycin. She's never used it longer than a couple of weeks, but the dosing info I found matched what Laurie and Mr. Tinkles are using (once a day for 5 days and then every 3 days for 6 weeks). She said she was thinking clindamycin, but both would work and there was a greater chance of diarrhea with the clindamycin anyway. I'd done the footwork to find a compounding pharmacy and get prices already (just in case) and she is calling the prescription in to them so we can get an oil-based, chicken flavored liquid. Not sure of the final price, but the estimate was around $45 - $50 for the whole course of treatment.

And... when she walked in she said she'd just talked to the radiologist this morning and he said that he would bet $50,000 that the "mass" in her chest in NOT cancer, but probably some old bronchial damage or something (I have a call in to her to ask questions and I'll get clarification... my brain wasn't working well this morning - I forgot my purse at home and had to come back for it on the way to the vet, so you get the idea). He said we could do more x-rays in a couple months or so, but he's convinced it's nothing to be concerned about.

Finally... my vet wrote the visit up as a post-op check for no charge. I love my vet.

Sigh. I don't know if I'm going to work today. I really need to relax.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

No charge! :RAHCAT

Sounds like it really went well Krys.
I say relax and skip work.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

Nice AMPS Krys! I'm so glad you finally got some good news from the radiologist! How nice of your vet to bill the visit as a follow-up so no charge.

I hope the Azithromycin works as well for Kasha as it has for Tinkles! Compounded meds are a great thing, and not as expensive as people think. For Azithromycin, it's the way to go...much cheaper than traditional script!

oh thank goodness for some good news! That is wonderful, and what a relief. It also does my heart good to read about about that accepts all the work you did, is willing to listen, and work with you. Just the best! Very very nice post. Now I know you guys will have a good day today!

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

wonderful news on the "mass"! I think you need to take the day off not to relax but to CELEBRATE!

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

That's such great news Krys. Now all you need is for the antibiotic to kick in so your little girl feels better. Nice that it was a no charge visit too. Not too many of those around. All in all it sounds like a pretty good visit. I'm with Ronnie. Take the day off for yourself and relax.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

What a wonderful way to start the week! Well, the infection isn't a great way to start the week but that's secondary to the report from the radiologist. I think you deserve to spend the day with your good friends, Ben & Jerry. I'm voting for a day at home cuddling with the kitties.

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

Thank you so much for suggesting it, Laurie - I hope we get some results from it like you have with Mr Tinkles!

And I am crying tears of joy... I'm so emotional right now. I just want to dance around and cry at the same time. And eat. And buy a new refrigerator... All of that stuff!

Buy a refrigerator? That's a new one; I've never heard of people celebrating with a refrigerator. LOL!

I'm so happy for you and I think we all love your vet too!

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

such good news, oh what a relief! I'm so happy for you and Kasha, finally some good comes your way.
Go get that new refrigerator and fill it with fattening goodies!

Re: 8/9 Kasha AMPS 100 Vet update - news!

Such great news! I'm sure you ARE dancing around - I would be too! Finally, some positive news for you - that's so great!

Her PMPS is a little high, but we had a sort of stressful morning, I guess. And I don't know when she ate, might have been within 2 hrs. She didn't eat much dinner, so I cut to the chase and force fed her 1 Tbsp Wellness mixed with some Transfer Factor for immune boost. I think it's probably overrated, but worth a try. She's hiding out on the porch now.

I bought my refrigerator - will be delivered Sunday unless I reschedule.

I'm feeling tired - might be coming down w/something. Planning to head out to get some food.

What a busy day you've had. So happy to hear the news....that sounds so wonderful and I am sure you are relieved! Sending hugs t you and doing a happy dance here! :YMHUG: dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

LOL, you really DID buy a refrigerator! I probably would have gone for the ice cream, but to each her own.

What great news from the radiologist, I'm so happy for you.

((((((Kyrs and Kasha))))))

Hope the good news fairy continues to visit you and Kasha begins to improve quickly.
