nailbite_smile out of strips? nailbite_smile OMG OMG nailbite_smile
LOL....I totally freak out if I don't have a back up box of test strips! I guess I overdo it a little...
Glad you are refilling your stock pile! So great that your DBF is willing to do the testing...that is really nice that he is taking an interest.
My vet started Shadow on 4.0u. They seem to like to start high but really, by going up the dosing ladder with .25u increments you won't bypass the right dose. We adjust both up and down during the process too. It's all about keeping the kitties safe. You are doing a great job!!

Hello there,

I don't think I've said hello before! Welcome to Lantus land!

Did you get those strips this afternoon?

you haven't started a new insulin vial/cartridge yet, have you? when you do, mark it on your spreadsheet. and how old is your existing vial?

Re: 8/9 Bear AMPS 322 +10 283 PMPS 310

Doing great, Kimberly. These flatter cycles will be easier on him, then you can work on bringing it all down a notch.

Didn't get that new insulin yet. The stuff we have is about a month old so I wonder if we will see a change with fresh insulin?

it's hard to say. maybe, maybe not. it may still be good and bear may just need a higher dose. (worked up systematically, of course).

some ppl can stretch out their pens or cartridges for longer than a month. but we like to swap out at 4-6 weeks (we used lantus cartridges before we switched to levemir pens). then again we're paranoid ppl

i personally think it would be a good idea to have a rx for pen cartridges in hand. unless bear is a high dose kitty, cartridges will end up being cheaper because you won't be tossing 150 mls of insulin out all at once - only the 30 ml cartridge that's open. whereas, with a vial, when you toss it, that's 100 mls (less what you've used) down the drain.
