Max pulled his Libre off a few days ago. I took him to the vet day before yesterday. Up until then he was having pretty good numbers. Yesterday he was in the 400's for the first time in awhile. I thought it was due to the stress from the vet but noticed he was swollowing strangely. I was worried he was getting sick as we had a virus go through 4 of our other cats two weeks ago, with the last cat getting over it a week ago. He ate dinner and was fine though the night.

Today, he was still doing the swollowing thing. He ate his breakfast and then hid. I found him later and he had thrown up. I gave him more food, which he ate and had to leave. I tested him this evening and his PMPS was 450. He still isn't feeling good. He did eat and I gave him his insulin. What do I need to be looking for? If he stops eating do I need to get to the vet?

Please advice. Concerned this is going to turn into something worse...

Poor Max. If he continues to vomit or not want to eat I would go to the vet. It’s possible he has pancreatitis. If you do take him in, get a SpecfPL test that would let us know if that’s the issue.

Were the other cats having the same symptoms? If so it makes sense that he has what they had. How did you treat them?

They all were throwing up or not eating for a day then they were laying around for a couple days before they started getting better. I just gave them tuna juice, lickables, etc something to get food and liquid into them and they were ok after couple days. I thought we were out of the woods as the last cat got better a week ago. This could be that or maybe he picked up something at the vet. I fed him an hour ago and he has not vomited but I can tell he still isn't feeling well. I will try to test his urine when I can catch him going to see if he has ketones.

I had another cat get pancreatitis. He was very painful and lethargic with a fever. I will an eye out for the same symptoms. Assuming he has a virus, do I keep his does at 1 if his numbers are still high in the morning? His nadir was 178 today. So frustrating... he was doing so well.

Both Max and Tiffany had pancreatitis. Neither had fevers. They became inappetent and nauseous. Meat loafed. No energy.

it sounds like Max got what the others had. Probably a virus. Do you have ondansetron or cerenia?

No I don't have either of those drugs. Are they for nausea? I will see if the vet can give me some the next time I go in to keep on hand.

Did you cats throw up with their pancreatitis? If he isn't feeling better in the morning, I will get him to the vet to run some tests. I hope he continues to eat. Fingers crossed
