8/8 Kit AMPS 238 +3 262 +7.5 207, PMPS 190,+2.5 254 gabepentin ?

hi,
it looks like kit has a UTI again. we have some gabepentin from the prev one in mid-march.
we didnt give it to her then bc she wasnt showing signs of pain.
tonight, she is.
the dose is written as 1/2 capsule in food every 12 hours as needed.

questions:
is there anything we need to consider in terms of its administration wrt isulin dose timing?
any tips about food integration or quantity? i.e. just enough to get her to take it, or?

tia.

You wouldn’t do anything different as far as food or insulin. If it’s a UTI a culture and sensitivity should be run to see which antibiotic is needed.

If it is a UTI, you can buy D-Mannose and give that. It binds to the bacteria and removes it from the body. You can buy loose powder and give 1/4 of a teaspoon a couple of times per day, or buy it in capsules and open them to get to the powder.

Are you sure it’s a UTI and not cystitis? Is she straining to urinate?

Right. We're wondering about that too! Now it's Sunday and she seems "normal" and not in pain, not making trips to litter (yet, crossing fingers). We are now wondering if last night she passed crystals. She has had them in the past but we thought we were done with that by getting so much more fluid into her and cutting out all dry treats. We'll be watching closely today. Thank you! Joji

Interesting! We'll look into this. Is the D-Mannose in addition to antibiotic treatment (that's been the usual course.) Thank you! Joji
