Durie just tested 33 at PM+5. Her dose is just a hair above zero, so approx .15-.20units.

She does not show any symptoms of hypo, I just tested because I suspected a drop tonight. I fed her 2x her usual serving as soon as I got the result of 33 (with a retest result of 35 - 30 minutes later).

Worried not so much out of a fear of hypo... I think she's safe. But the only option now is to dose her at the zero line of the needle. I checked with a used needle and water in a sink... and the zero line still provides like 3 drops of insulin. That will be her new dose starting tomorrow.

Any opinions/advice? I suspected her dental work might relieve Durie of some insulin dependency... but after only 2 weeks since her dental work, a dose of .15 is sending her into hypo numbers.

I'm not experienced enough to give any advice other then keep retesting to be sure. Lowest reading I've had is 39 and a few 40s and I usually go to some corn syrup and/or high carb food and keep retesting every 20 min to be on the safe side

Jorge

You want to feed 2-3 tsp of HC gravy and I would add some karo for the 30s. If you feed a large amount of food, she might come up but then she might later come down and not want to eat. Once you give her the gravy, test in 30 mins.

Repeat this process until she is up in the high 50s and then go to LC food until she is in the 60s. Then don't feed, test in 30 and see where she is. You want two rising non food influenced numbers before you wuit testing.

I'd take her down to one drop and see what she does.

It's ok to take the 911 down. I will check back with you in a few minutes.

Re: 8/8 Durielle PM+5 33

Thanks, she's now at 46... she's lucid and following me around, even jumping up to the table where I test/feed her. She'll be okay, but I'm shocked at how even a tiny dose is sending her into hypo. She now needs only traces of insulin in each shot. Will reflect that on spreadsheet, and call the new dose .10u

I had already fed as soon as I got the 33 result (1:30am EST). So I'll just keep checking her every half hour until she's in the 60s.

Thanks Jorge. I know you have limited strips but please be sure she is safely up before you go to bed.

Good luck with the reduction. Mi hope the dental is what she needed to get her in remission.

61 at 3am EST - 1.5 hrs after her score of 33. Will not check again until shot time at 9am tomorrow.
