Re: 8/8 Bj AmPs (558)

Hi Mike,

It's nice that he isn't doing the deep diving and letting you get some sleep, but those higher numbers aren't much of a comfort. I'm still nowhere close to being able to tell you what is going on, so I guess this is a question to those who'll check in later -

Is this an example of a "reduction that doesn't take", or is it just an extended period of bouncing? Could maybe an overnight low have happened last night and this is a bounce from that? How does one tell the difference between bouncing and a failed reduction (or are the indications the same)?

Yeah, it's wierd. I wonder if there's a fur shot in there somewhere? Or maybe dropped to .75u too early. And I don't know what he was at last night, I fell asleep in my chair before his next test. Could not endure...

Re: 8/8 Bj AmPs (558)

Oh, and I need to note that I've changed his diet a little the past few days. I'm giving him a little more food and earlier feedings than before. Approx every 1.5 hours after AM/PM test until he's had about 4 feedings and then no food after +6.

Re: 8/8 Bj AmPs (558), +2(406)

Mike -- the 189 last night should be colored in blue, not yellow. What I think you saw this morning was a bounce. Bj dropped from 461 to 189. That's almost 300 points in 3.25 hours. That's a big drop and a fast drop. In all likelihood, it set off a bounce. It also looks like the numbers were coming back down.

Just an FYI, changes in the food schedule may also have an effect on numbers. It can take at least a few days, or sometimes longer or shorter, for the numbers to respond.

Oops, sorry. I just couldn't keep my eyes open last night
The sad thing is that I was just going to take a cat nap so I could stay up til 6am..
As you can see, my focus wasn't tuned. I'll have some caffeine tonight.

Re: 8/8 Bj AmPs (558), +9(216), PmPs (189)

Hi Mike!

The steady drop from AMPS to PMPS is pretty typical of a bounce clearing - you can see a similar thing happening on the 4th of August in BJ's spreadsheet. Are you going to be ok staying up for a bit? Given how low BJ has gone whenever you've shot a blue BG, I'd feel happier if you could get some follow-up tests. Start with a (+1), ok? Then we'll go from there.

Hmm. Looks like he's on his way back up. If you need to crash, I'd suggest you just set an alarm for (+3). Does that work for you?

I'll just stay up til then. Or maybe not, I'll get the +3.

Re: 8/8 Bj PmPs (189), +1 (321), +3 (362)

Those would work too, Mike. I doubt you'll have a surprise BG, it's just to be doubly safe. I've got to leave the house in a few minutes - I'll take my phone but I won't be able to post much while I'm out. Are you good here?

I'm time travelling back in 1982 and telling myself that in 30 years I will be negotiating for sleep on a computer

Anyway, I want to do what you think best. But how's this: set alarm for a +6?

EDIT: Ok, I'll take that as a yes. I'm about to go loopy.

That gets my vote for "laugh of the day"
