Morning! This is a surprise for Maggie on the yellow floor after having a few really nice days. When I get a wacky or high number, I always check it against my human meter. So...my trusty ole Relion Micro meter registered 203, a 41 point variance, so the ATrak was correct, ugh! I think it may be a couple things for the spike. Last night's shot didn't feel right. I felt as though I didn't get it under the skin, so possibly a fur shot. Ella, I may be ahead of you with fur shots! The other thing is she had some Wellness Beef & Chicken, and although it is low carb, Maggie has reacted before to different lc fuds. I mentioned yesterday Maggie has some difficulty with the consistency of Wellness. It's like us trying to get the peanut butter from our teeth when having a spoonful! She has very few teeth, so I'm thinking this may be the reason. The Wellness is pasty like and not much broth, and the FF Classic has a little more bulk and broth! Just my observation. Maggie's had quite a few extractions, some extractions prediabetes. She would love it if I could mix in some kibbles. It's too bad they don't come up with a low carb kibbles. Have a nice day. I have an exciting day - laundry and buying kitty litter. I'm sure I'll find something else exciting, too! :smile:

I agree the Wellness is pretty thick. When I would give it to Willie, I would either cut it up into small bites for him, or I'd soup it up with water. Do you have a blender or food processor? Maybe put it in there and add some water or sodium free broth to get it to a better consistency, then just keep it in a storage container.

Quite a drop! I took the Wellness Beef & Chicken away, and Mags is back to FF. I can tell she's a Happy Camper!

Hi Christie, thanks for the tips on making the Wellness more suitable for Maggie's lack of teeth. She is still okay with the Wellness chicken and her bg, so next time I will cook up some Wellness chicken soup slop. :lol:

Hi Roni, I think I am in competition with you and Ella on the fur shots. :lol: I knew this morning was a real shot though!

glad i got here for the lower number!!

i add water to all Binks' fuds...

he's kinda used to the soupy consistency now...even though all his teefers are intact...
he seems to like the fact that i at least do MINIMAL work to feed him. :lol:

you should see him boss me around when his chicken breasts are on the grill... :razz:

YAY!! So glad to see the lower numbers for Maggie - sure was a surprise to see that 244 this morning. I am glad she has come down for you. Go Maggie!

Excitement in your day today... :-D I need to do the litter one too. WOO HOO!

confused_cat The only thing I can think of for the spike is a fur shot. Also, when I bought kitty litter today at Pet People, a sales rep. gave me a sample of Stella & Chewy's Freeze Dried Dinner for cats. It's made with raw poultry and freeze dried, no grain, no added homone or antibiotics, no sugar, salt. etc. I sprinkled some on top her FF! At least I don't have to worry about testing tonight, but I hate to see her this high! Good thing I just tried a sample.
 
Maggie can't quite make up her mind today huh? Hope she comes down for you Ann! I am going to have to try some of that food you got a sample of. i think Tarragon is getting a little bored with his FF but he is so darn picky!

Gosh so sorry Maggie has had an up/down day. Poor sweetie.

I think I checked out the Stella and Chewy's and they were a little high in carbs.

Hope she comes wake back down. Get some rest!!
