Happy Tuesday!!! And where did my morning go???? At least the electricity came back on late last night but I had already gone ni ni and left Mike up to deal with kitty issues.
Yesterday's numbers look good on the surface but we do not like these dive down bounce back up cycles and I think part of it was Mike had to give her 10% food even after she started up a bit because she wouldn't eat the WN 4%. Luckily, I found some at Petco that was the old consistency but I didn't get home until late in the afternoon and she was already up. However, we were
that she stayed in blue last night and gave me a close to normal number today at AMPS. Still sticking with this dose even though she's not getting long, green cycles because she is getting into the 50s and without food, she would have gotten lower.
She and Tobes have been crazy kittens today and cracking us up! She loves to hide behind doors and then jump out at me and then we play chase and she gets behind another door. Tobey had me laughing so hard I could barely breathe. We have two condos fairly close together and he raced up one and then kept jumping back and forth from the top of one to the top of the other, then raced down, jumped on the bed, and I acted like I was going to get him and he was running in circles on the bed first clockwise then counterclockwise, then jumped down and back to the condos.   What a time we had!!
So...on the WN. I called the company this morning. They said there are three plants: one in Toronto, Canada which is run by Simmons; one in NJ which is run by Simmons (they bought out Menu Foods); and American Nutrition in UT. WellPet provides all of the ingredients to all three plants but fresh ingredients are bought by WellPet locally. On days that the canners are canning the WN, a WellPet Quality Control person is there. They have not changed any of the formulas. However, the CS rep said that the outcome can vary depending on a lot of things....season, local produce, etc....there were several things. But the formula is the same at every plant. She took all the dates of the ones that are the chunky style that were made at the Toronto plant and the Utah Plant. Usually the ones I've bought that are made in UT (MW code) have been the pate style our cats like. But the last several were like the chunkier kind from Canada. And it is much more aromatic...almost smells like garlic to me by that is my human nose and not the cats' noses. It seems that all of those cans regardless of where they were made have a used by date in 2015..the months vary but that tells them it is the most recent lots. So they are working on trying to find out what the difference is but said they may not be able to know. And I understand that. But neither Gracie nor Tobey will eat the chunkier version that Maggie and Rusty like from Canada. Cats!!!!
So....Gracie is surfing on her own and I am off to try and find more of the food that has best by date of 2014 or sooner. Have a lovely day.
