Happy Tuesday!!! And where did my morning go???? At least the electricity came back on late last night but I had already gone ni ni and left Mike up to deal with kitty issues.

Yesterday's numbers look good on the surface but we do not like these dive down bounce back up cycles and I think part of it was Mike had to give her 10% food even after she started up a bit because she wouldn't eat the WN 4%. Luckily, I found some at Petco that was the old consistency but I didn't get home until late in the afternoon and she was already up. However, we were :-D :-D :-D that she stayed in blue last night and gave me a close to normal number today at AMPS. Still sticking with this dose even though she's not getting long, green cycles because she is getting into the 50s and without food, she would have gotten lower.

She and Tobes have been crazy kittens today and cracking us up! She loves to hide behind doors and then jump out at me and then we play chase and she gets behind another door. Tobey had me laughing so hard I could barely breathe. We have two condos fairly close together and he raced up one and then kept jumping back and forth from the top of one to the top of the other, then raced down, jumped on the bed, and I acted like I was going to get him and he was running in circles on the bed first clockwise then counterclockwise, then jumped down and back to the condos.   What a time we had!!

So...on the WN. I called the company this morning. They said there are three plants: one in Toronto, Canada which is run by Simmons; one in NJ which is run by Simmons (they bought out Menu Foods); and American Nutrition in UT. WellPet provides all of the ingredients to all three plants but fresh ingredients are bought by WellPet locally. On days that the canners are canning the WN, a WellPet Quality Control person is there. They have not changed any of the formulas. However, the CS rep said that the outcome can vary depending on a lot of things....season, local produce, etc....there were several things. But the formula is the same at every plant. She took all the dates of the ones that are the chunky style that were made at the Toronto plant and the Utah Plant. Usually the ones I've bought that are made in UT (MW code) have been the pate style our cats like. But the last several were like the chunkier kind from Canada. And it is much more aromatic...almost smells like garlic to me by that is my human nose and not the cats' noses. It seems that all of those cans regardless of where they were made have a used by date in 2015..the months vary but that tells them it is the most recent lots. So they are working on trying to find out what the difference is but said they may not be able to know. And I understand that. But neither Gracie nor Tobey will eat the chunkier version that Maggie and Rusty like from Canada. Cats!!!!

So....Gracie is surfing on her own and I am off to try and find more of the food that has best by date of 2014 or sooner. Have a lovely day.

Nice to see that Gracie is recovering and coming back down to her green homeland! Good luck on the Wellness hunt. Back in the day, Neko used to occasionally be fussy about Wellness texture and I remember scouring the pet food stores for acceptable lot #'s. Usually if I could find a months worth of food, it would be enough until the plant came out with another batch she would eat. Neko was originally just on chicken and turkey, but I added turkey/salmon to the mix so that if one was not edible, then I still had two flavors that were. It does sound promising that Wellpet is investigating the issue - I guess there have been lots of complaints.

Re: 8/7 Gracie AMPS 127 +3 113 +4 96

Hi All! Very nice day for Gracie - back to the greens. Knew she'd remember how.

I have done what Wendy did with the wellness: rotate the flavors. Mannie is/was a chicken, turkey, beef/chicken kitty. or at least he was until the Giardia issue. AT the time I thought his appy issues were the WN, but in retrospect I think it was just the parasite, and have begun to reintroduce the WN. He doesn't seem to care on consistency. Lucky for me I guess.... ;-) Good luck on your quest.

Hi Marje, glad you were able to get thru and talk to someone at WN. Very interesting with the ....season, local produce, etc. as to effecting the consistency. Yes, Maggie and Rusty both like the one made in Canada, or chunkier. Nice cycle today for Gracie and hope she keeps surfing. Cute with the Tobey Olympics. :-D Hope you were able to find the WN both Gracie and Tobey like today.

Back from fuds hunt. Well....we found eight cans of each of the three flavors that had different lot numbers so paws crossed. But that won't last us long since Tobey eats two cans a day (3 oz). For some reason, they will NOT eat the food from the 5.5 oz cans and it does seem different. :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: We have one more place we can go and will try that on Thurs. But we were running out of time with Gracie surfing where she has been today and she always gets busy about +10.

Hi guys,
Thanks, Marje, for the Wellness report. Very interesting! I don't think I would describe the 3 oz. cans of Wellness made in Canada "chunky". I would call the food firmer than the mushy Wellness in the 5.5 oz. cans made in the USA, but it is definitely paté. To clarify, I would call Fancy Feast Turkey & giblets "chunky", or "chunky paté". Whatever. Rusty prefers the Canadian cans. Maybe the Canadian chickens and turkeys are a different breed? (I assume that the "fresh, local" ingredients include the meat??).

Great story of Gracie's and Tobey's athletic prowess.

I'm getting the hang of dealing with the hair trigger on the Terumo syringes. (anti-jinx)

Have a great evening,

Ella & Rusty

Looking good, Gracie. You sure have dedicated beans. :-D I'm sure you and Tobes would both win gold medals at the kitty olympics.
Liz

ETA: I'm glad you like the updates, Marje. :-D We are feeling very comfortable shooting green these days. I even shot a 58 the other morning after stalling for a bit. His appy makes all the difference.

Re: 8/7 Gracie PMPS 98

YAY, LIZ!!!!!

And Gracie!!! Look at you.... a day in normal numbers with no food manipulation....just your regular meals.

It seems to us that Gracie might finally be at a dose that is not overdose because her cycles are starting to look a little more like lev cycles. She's onsetting around +3.5 or +4 now so today I changed her amounts and fed her just a tiny bit more of her 4% right before I thought she was going to onset and she's just had a really nice, flat day. The only mistake we made was feeding her late...she acted hungry when we got home and because we were used to her nadiring at +14 or so, we fed her. But I think she's nadiring earlier than that and so we slowed her down a tad. Time will tell. But today was gorgeous!

that's a mighty pretty blue/green ss she's got right now! wahoo! looks like she's thinking you had enough sleep last night, though, so you must want to keep her company tonight. silly girl. ;-)

good luck on the food project. seems like it's always something, doesn't it? are you liking the terumos ok now?

thanks for the encouragement on punkin - no lying, i am kinda down about the whole thing. doesn't help that i had oral surgery thursday and am just now surfacing from that. long week. i gave him a unit of R at +6 so now am destined for sleep testing tonight. but that's how it goes. we love our little ones! anything for these little guys.

great report on the Kitty Olympics at your place today! Tena and Michelle posted a KO poster on FB today - you guys should've been included! :-D

hope gracie gets a nice surf going and lets you sleep a bit. doesn't she know you have to work tomorrow? ;-)

Gracie's bg's sure are pretty lately!

It sounds like you all had a lot of fun today. I remember when my girls were young and we used to play like that. What fun! Treasure these days. They get old and can't jump around and run like that anymore.

What you're going through with Gracie and Wellness is exactly what I went through with Racci. That's why I switched to the Merrick Before Grain when I tried it and she liked it. If you haven't tried it maybe you should. It would at least give you an alternate.

Thanks for stopping by with your cheerleaders! It worked! Not only did we get a poop but her bg dove as well.

Have a good night!
