Good evening,

what a day. Today I witnessed the rather spectecular death of the sensor. :nailbiting: Yesterday I felt that the sensor was not working properly any more after days of working very well. Binies bg went down at unusual times and it had nothing to do with her lying on the sensor, which seems to be our summer problem as she spents lots of time lying flat on one side. Maybe the sensor becomes loose by lying on it too often?

So yesterday I started to do ear pokes whenever she lets me. This morning I had to work and I did an ear poke before I had to go in a virtual team meeting. As her bg was 289 on the Accu check, I was quite relaxed and the sensor was in an equal range. Suddenly her bg started to go down quickly on the reader, even though she was not lying on the sensor. At the end of my meeting she was at LO and I have to admit, even though I knew that these numbers can't be real, I felt quite stressed.

So far I always went to the vet for the change because we always had something going on anyway and after a failed attempt to change it myself a few month ago, I haven't had the courage to try it myself anymore. But today I decided to give it another try and it worked without problems. I spent only 10 minutes of my lunchbreak on it. Binie was super relaxed when I shaved and prepped everything. When I placed the sensor it seems she was a little shocked and she hissed at me but that was it.

Unfortunately I chose another place, where she is lying on and we had some pressure lows with sensor errors after it today. The only good place is very near the spine but I am scared to hurt her. The young vet did it two sensors ago and it worked perfectly but maybe it was risky.

Because of all that, I am not sure how her nadirs are. We saw some blue numbers at the libre but because I was not sure if they are for real, I did not put them in the ss. I hope the sensor is working properly the next days, even though we will see some lower numbers if she is lying on the sensor but than I just leave them out.

Hope everyone has a relaxed evening and a safe surf! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, great job with installing the Libre!! I’m so proud of you for trying and succeeding!! I’m glad Binie cooperated, too.

Hopefully the sensor will give you reliable data.

I do try to avoid the spine, as you said. I’ll attach some photos that I keep for reference and I try to get close to these spots for placement.
I also try to avoid lower down on the side since they lie on the side and get the compression lows, as you mentioned.
Wishing you and Binie a restful night :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci, thank you so much for your supper! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I downloaded the pictures but I am not sure, if this placement will work on Binie. The first sensor was placed like in the second picture, on the shoulder. It lastet about three hours, because she took it off. It seems impossible for me to make her wear something. We tried that after surgery and she was very unwell with it. And I think I wouldn't manage to put it on myself. I remember the pictures of Ivy in her dress. She looks so cute!

I just made a picture, of course she is on the terrace :):

On her lower back she doesn't mind the sensor at all. In winter she is not lying like that, these problems with compression lows just came in summer. Thank god cooler days are coming soon.... Every day a new challenge, isn't it?

Hope you have a calm night! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Great job, Heike! If it’s a good spot for Binie and she leaves it alone then it’s perfect!

I’m sending all good vibes for it to work perfectly.
She looks very relaxed on your terrace! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci, thank you so much for the good vibes! :bighug::bighug::bighug: I think the spot is not perfect because we have issues with pressure lows but I am working on it and fortunately she is not taking it off. Step by step... I hope Debby found some other place to go and the heavy rains are over! I send you hugs and Ivy a tender chin scratch!:kiss::kiss:

You will get better every time, Heike! It just takes patience and practice, as with everything!! Im so glad Binie leaves it alone!!

It’s pouring rain here now and I’m due to meet a friend for dinner. I hate driving in such heavy rain!
I’ll just take my time. I won’t be out late as I need to get back for Ivy.

I hope you have a calm night with easy sensor readings!! :bighug::cat::bighug:
