It's a sad day in LantusLand, as we mourn Maggie's passing. Sending tons of comfort vines to Ann, the best bean ever.

Looks like Zener had a bit of a slide last night or maybe not. He's not telling. Appy was ok. He did finish up with breffis in bed with Anne, after starting on the footstool, then a picnic, then the bridge, then a random spot in the yard, then back to the footstool, then the windowsill in the office. We've got a vetty visit at +6 for bloodwork, anal gland expression, and general discussion with the vet.

OT: Tillie has been very busy the past few days keeping an eye on the woodpile. And her appy has been very good, so I don't think she's catching anything. Her opinion of her hunting skills are a little higher than is warranted. I think it's mice (no snakes). I hear that Rusty is coming over to help out. :-D

Sending healing vines to ailing kitties and beans, Jamie and Jupiter, Donna's Doogle. Paws crossed for OTJ trials. Did I see an AMBG of 36? Happy Tuesday, LL!

Um, yup, that would be us!

I'm not exactly sure what's up. Either my meter is NOT accurate at lower numbers, or she always ran low, or there's something else wrong with her (the vet keeps mentioning the C word, although after 3 years of hearing it, I'm not sure that's what's going on  ), or she's just being a cat! I've decided not to panic until/if she starts acting funny!

Hope Zener has a nice slide today!

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Good luck at the vetty visit- Blu-ti-ful way to start the day, Mr. Z :-D

Can you tell when he needs his anal glands done again? I have never asked to have that done on my kitties, but droolers get it done at each visit.

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Good Luck with your scoot exam  kalohe not doing his moonwalk so much lately. Hope you get your slid, have a good vetty day

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Morning Ann and Liz ~O) ~O) ~O)

Nice amps there Zener. We are proud of you. Good vetty visit for you too, I hope the report is a good one. Try and ignore that expression part... it will be over before you know it. :?

Elsa says to let Tillie know she'll be over too to help with the wood pile. She loves to hunt... in her hey day we had daily prezzies!

Have a great day today.

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Good vetty visit vines headed your way! Don't know if the rain made it up your way, but we're enjoying it down in the valley. Have a good one, guys!

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Hi Liz. Glad all is well there. Nice AMPS for Zener. Hope Tillie hones the mice catching skills.

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

It sounds like Zener is feeling good if he's having his progressive picnic breakfast. Sending good vetty vines for today.

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Hi Liz, Anne, Zener & Tillie, I hope we see a nice Zener slide today. Oh I get such a kick out of Zener enjoying his different breffifs spots and finally landing in bed with sleeping Anne. Sending many good Vetty vines for today's visit and will check back on a report.

Thank you both so much for your message of condolences and for your good thoughts here. It sure helps with the grieving knowing so many cared about Maggie and me. Mags had so much fun trying to come thru on a poo to earn some good credits from Poo Patrol. :-D

Re: 8/6 Zener AMPS 172

Hi Liz, Anne and Mr. Z

I hope the vet visit went well today. Anal gland expression, that isn't fun, ugh. Zeus had to have it done once, he wasn't thrilled but momma was happy that he didn't stink up the room anymore when he walked by with tail in the air

Hope you have a great night,
Kathie

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Thanks to all for visiting Zener today and cheering for a good vetty visit. No results on his blood work yet, but the vet thought he was looking good with no signs of any dehydration since our last visit. We will await the blood results to see if anything with his current treatment needs to change and should get that tomorrow. His anal sacs were full and as the vet described it "like chunks of paste". That just sounds uncomfortable. She expressed them thoroughly and thought that would help his rear leg wobbles. He feels much better since the "expression".

@Melissa & Mr T - we like to describe Zener's AM and PM meals as "progressive dining". ;-)

@Alexis & Nikki - we vote for "she's a cat"! Zener tells us "less worry, more petting". cat_pet_icon

@Cleo & Jane - looks like his AMPS was his nadir for the cycle. Zener gets more unsteady in his back legs, has trouble getting up and often will meow when he plops down. We routinely get his anal glands expressed now about every 4-6 weeks and they are always full. Some kitties have trouble with this, but not all and evidently not as much as droolers.

@Linda & Lucky - no slide today, more of an up the escalator, could be vetty visit stress too. All went well with the scoot exam.

@Michelle - ah yes, it was a lovely blue AM start. Z feels much better after the ahem, you know... Tillie is looking forward to the hunting party of Elsa and Rusty joining her for the hunt. Do they practice "catch and release"?

@Tara & Buster - thanks for the vetty visit. We have had a very unusual day of weather, cloudy with drizzle all day and I don't think the temperature got above 70F! It felt very autumn like.

@John - we have paws crossed for some more blue numbers soon! Tillie does not believe her skills need honing. She is a little delusional about her skills.

@Amy & TrixieCat - thanks for the vetty vines!

@Ann & Tess - Zener is doing a reverse slide today, so no lagoon. Maybe he'll see Tess later at Camp Stu and she can tell him how things were in the lagoon.

@carla - Zener loves his progressive meals. We've had rainy weather today, so some of his favorite spots were out of the question, not wanting wet paddy paws and such.

@Ann & Maggie - it makes us very sad to type "& Maggie". Thank you so much for stopping in to visit Zener today, and he did end up in the bed with the sleeping Anne (that's me) today. No report on the blood work yet, but the vet thought he was looking good and had a productive "expression." You are so very welcome for the messages. Mags was such a sweetheart, sparing you that final decision and taking it into her own paddy paws. We will miss monitoring her progress in the pursuit of the purrfect poo. Sending you lots of love as you mourn her passing. I am sure she will send a sign soon that she has arrived at the bridge. :YMHUG:

@Kathie - stinky tail in air = anal glands need attention  More to come on vet visit as we get the blood work results.

We have heavy hearts tonight mourning the passing of LL's beloved Maggie and sending our best hugs to her most wonderful bean Ann. Wishing all in LL a peaceful evening.

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Hi everyone! bummer on the pink, but YAY on the vet visit. Sounds like all is good with Zener.

Elsa says to say that is a negative on the catch and release.... ;-)

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Nikki appreciates Zener's sage advice, but would request that he substitute "fuds" for "petting"!

Hope he's feeling better after his vetty visit!

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Hi guys,
Glad to hear that the Z Man had a good vetty visit. I'm sure the expression made him much more comfortable.
Rusty is getting all ready for Maggie's remembrance party tonight and is happy that Tillie is coming, too.

See you tomorrow, have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Hi,
I'm glad Zener feels better after the anal gland expression.
Praying for good blood work results.

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

you may have answered this before but I was just wondering if you are adding a little bit of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling kind)...into Zener's food....a tiny bit goes a long way into hardening up the stool enough so that the anal sac doesn't get all clogged up....just wondering....

it is good for you to check on a regular basis and if Zener lets you....to check the rear for swollen glands....I do that with Comet....as you know he did get a lump removed plus the right anal gland and the lump came back positive for cancer....hence the chemo treatment....

anyhow....I have gotten to know a thing or two in that area.....i'm no expert but thought of throwing it out there in case you have questions.....

sending you ALL a peaceful night!

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Zener & Shasta sittin' in a tree...

Sorry, it just felt like they went on a little date today...to the vet...for an anal sac expression. Ok, not much of a date, but I bet they will feel better. Well, Shasta may take a day or two...she's walking like a cowboy right now!   Glad to hear that his vetty visit went well and I love that you track his eating path! Tillie, you better keep those "mice" outside and don't let them in the house. Ok?!

Thank you for checking in on us tonight. It's nice having her home...even if she is a little pissy with me. :-| Sleep well!

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Ouch on that PMPS, but I'm sure there is lots of vetty visit stress involved in that. I had Theo expressed a few months ago and he was "paste like" too. Actually, vetty did it in front of me. And Theo is on a raw diet that makes harder poops which is supposed to prevent/limit that issue. Oh well, ECID on the anal sac front.

Neko wants to join Tillie in the hunt. Hope there's enough for a crowd!

Re: 8/6 Zener PMPS 399 Vet visit

Glad he got his butt squeezed, they tried to show me how to do kalohe but he wont let me near his butt  Ko has learned how to drag to do it himself now, oh yuck but what can you do  Glad everything else so far is good
