Sorry for the late condo. We have 6 house guests, including my 2 little grand-nieces all week;my nephew is getting married at the end of the month so there is a lot of pre-wedding activities going on. I am exhausted, today, they all went to the zoo and out for dinner. I stayed home tonight to rest! First time I was glad to have an excuse to stay home, thanks to Tiger!

I took Tiger to the vet as sort of a squeeze in, emergency visit Saturday. She was making a sniffly noise when she breathed, kind of wheezy and she lacked a lot of energy. Because it was a weekend, there was a replacement vet on duty, we have never seen him before. He totally dismissed my concerns of Tiger's breathing, he said there's nothing wrong with her and that was that! Somehow, we got to talking about furballs- I explained she had also coughed up a small hairball that morning, first one in a few weeks. This he was interested in hearing about. He told me that if she coughs up more than a hairball a month, she might have IBD! He took blood work, and did a stool sample. Both came back good, including her thyroid, I have labs to update, but her thyroid is almost normal again. I am trying not to get upset about the IBD diagnosis until I can meet with our new regular vet, Dr. Roberts on Aug.22. I was just wondering, does anyone have experience with IBD/Diabetes and CKD? I know I need to wait until our next vet visit, but I am trying not to freak out!

I am still very saddened by the loss of Lucy, my heart goes out to Mariko and Ginger. And I am sending vines to all others who need them - Elise's mom, Molly's mom and Amy and her Dad and family.

Sorry I can't help you with the IBD questions, but I know there are many here who will be able to help you with that. I just wanted to offer lots of support. You can handle this - whether it's IBD or something else. Look at how much you've handled that you never thought you could.

Sending lots of healing vines to Tiger and lots of anti-stress vines to you! :YMHUG:

Hi Shelly, long time no see?? Thank you so much for stopping in, your comforting words are so much appreciated! You were one of the first to greet us when we started on this wacky journey, thanks for the support!

Hi Ruth. Don't get freaked out about IBD. So many cats seem to have it and it often goes along with pancreatitis. I don't recall Tiger vomiting much or having diarrhea. I've heard that while lots of people think hairballs are normal they aren't. Yet look how many cats have them. If that is the only symptom I would take what he said with a grain of salt. If it is true, often a diet change by either eliminating grains or a novel protein takes care of it. Tiger had a great day I see. We won't talk about the darned bounce. That's great news about the thyroid. Don't worry about what that vet said. I'd be more concerned that he didn't address why you went there in the first place.

Enjoy your company. My nephew is getting married this Saturday too. It's going to be a small wedding on a boat in the Marina. Yours sounds big.

Thanks for the prayers for my mom.

Life at your place does sound busy. I've lost track of the number of times I've been glad I've got the diabetic kitty excuse.

Dyana got a possible diagnosis of IBD for JD a couple of days ago. Here's a link to her condo that day where several people here post about their cats and IBD. Melissa's Tarragon is another one with IBD. JD and Zener also have early stage CKD and IBD, as did Lucy  , there are probably others I can't remember at the moment.

I hope Tiger's breathing is better now.
