Thank you for all the positive thoughts and prayers. My little girl is home...minus a tooth, some blood and whatever's inside the anal sacs (!)...but alive and cranky! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get onto the board tonight. This is the first time I've sat down all day. Not that anyone wants to read a blow by blow of my day, but here's the nutshell version:
- woke up to hungry cat
- took to vet's office; I held while they sedated; she peed on me; they took her. Mommy, hold me. I'm sleepy.
- drove home to do laundry, vacuum & change litter. Then I went to my own doctor's appointment & grocery.
- picked up Shasta. She did fine. Tooth is outta there; numbers looked good except BG. Potassium was on the lowest side of ok, but didn't warrant supplements. Only feed her half of normal tonight...watch for vomit.
- Shasta/me home; baked treats for vet staff & school staff; ran errands quickly; home to scan Shasta's reports and answer a few messages; feed cat; feed horses; shower; fix dinner; write condo.

Here are her blood work results. I have no idea how to read them, other then to see when things are "normal" or "high", etc.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Maggie. This hit like a ton of bricks. In last night's condo for Shasta, Ann said that she would keep us in her thoughts and prayers. Well, Ann and Maggie - I return the favor and will keep you both close to my heart while you mourn and heal. Fly free, sweet Maggie girl. You are well loved by many across the globe. Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins, especially Doogle, Jupiter & Miko! Blessings!

I'm glad Shasta is recuperating.... and even being her cranky self. ;-)

Glad you finally have some bw....

I'm not able to open the vet reports.... I'm not sure the permission is given to see them....

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

So glad to hear Shasta is home and resting. Looks like you need to rest as well. Wow what a day! Have a great night Deborah!

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

Hi Deborah - I am glad all went well for Shasta, and that she is home. I almost laughed on the urine episode, as it was Mannie's trademark. He always did that too. another good memory. Heal well Shasta!

I like what you wrote here: it is so true. Ann spent so much time with me during Mannie's last days. words of comfort and support. Now it is time for us to return the support, 10 fold:

Hi guys,
We're happy to hear that Shasta's dental went well, and the other procedure, too!
Have a good, restful, evening.

Hugs, scritches,
Ella & Rusty (who hopes that Shasta will feel well enough to come to the remembrance party for Maggie tonight at Camp Stu).

I'm glad Shasta is home safely and everything went well today. Sending prayers for a quick healing.

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

I'm glad Shasta is home and doing well.

I can't open the lab report. Did you set the access to share?

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

Can anyone view the lab reports now?!

Also, her right eye is very weepy and she's been squinty all night. At first, I didn't notice it as much because she was just loopy and staring into outer space, but now that she's regaining her catittude, I'm noticing it more. Anything that I can do for it? warm compress? I don't know why it's bothering her. ...on top of everything else she's been through. :YMSIGH:

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

I can see the reports now....

they put some kind of ointment in their eyes before surgery to protect them.... it's probably a reaction to that... little ooze....

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

Yay for the dental being over and done! Zener got his anal glands expressed today too but probably not as well as Shasta did if they did it while she was under. Cats keep their eyes open when they are anesthetized so the vet puts some goopy stuff on them to keep them from drying out. Then the eyes are weepy for a day or two afterwards. Wow, you had a very busy day. Is Shasta keeping her food down tonight? Hugs to you, Deborah.

Re: 8/6 Shasta PMPS=303 +2=222 vetty update

Gotcha! Thanks, Rhiannon & Liz! I saw the goo on her fur, but didn't think about them putting it in her eye. Thanks! And yes, she's kept down her food so far...and I'm feeding as much as she wants...and as much as I need to keep her numbers safe! :-D

Thank you all, again, for all of your support and healing vines. I honestly don't know what I would do without you all and your help, advice, prayers & laughter! Thank you and bless you all.

So glad about the dental and just one tooth, did you put tooth under her bed for kitty furry  Well you should sleep well,Hopefully shasta will be good as new tmro.

Whew! Glad to see a successful dental done! Sounds like the sedation went well, other than the peeing part. And hopefully Shasta will be back to her normal self soon.

Woo hoo on the successful dental. If Shasta puts her tooth under her pillow, the kitty tooth fairy will bring a nice soft mousey. Sure hopes the anal squeeze relieves some pressure from that paste!

I'm glad you got her to the vet. Her potassium level does concern me. The level of K in the blood should not be less than 4. When K is low in the blood, it's even lower at the cellular level. I'd read up on it and ask again about potassium supplements.

Everything else looks good!

Hugs that she will feel ok and you have a great night.

Been thinking about you and Shasta all day since I remembered you were going for the dental today. Happy to hear it went so well, and it sounds like Shasta might even be eating some better already. I know I wouldn't have wanted to eat the way it looked before, but getting the offending tooth out is usually a big relief!!

We've both had a busy day "at the dentist"....LOL

Wishing you a great day as you return to work too!! The beginning of the school year is always so exciting! Learning about your new students, talking about vacation fun with the ones you already know...and watching the ones you've taught in the past moving on to bigger and better things.

Hope now that this is over, Shasta will bounce back quickly!! I'm sure she will though...she has such a great mommabean!!

Morning Deborah,
I'm still on my old schedule of getting up early. I'm so glad all went well with Shasta's dental. For some reason I thought you were to have a procedure. :? I was all mixed up. She came down to a nice blue there. I'm sending Shasta some nice healing and recovery vines and vines for you, too. I got a big kick out of the Butt Powder. Mags is laughing, too. and looking down and keeping a watch on her friend, Shasta.
Thank you for your kind words of comfort with Maggie's passing. It means so much. I am overwhelmed by everyone's outreach and support. I've always enjoyed keeping up with Shasta and won't be far away as I'd like to stay in touch.
