Yesterday's Condo

Happy Friday everyone!
As we start our second year of insulin :lol: we have a bit of a bounce I believe after the +7=92 lat night. Everyone is fine except maybe for me. I woke up with my alarm clock in bed with me. Guess I just couldn't manage waking for the +9 check that I thought I added last night when I saw the 92. :YMSIGH: :?: Guess his hormones are still wonky so maybe this is okay to stay here at this dose and see what he does today, right?

I had a bit of a scare when I couldn't find my boy this morning. He wasn't there to greet me and I looked everywhere. I then began calling his name with that shaky voice...you know what I mean? My thoughts were racing as I checked the closet twice. Raja looked on from her darn cube, not helping me at ALL! nailbite_smile I raced through the apartment again, trying to not wake DH with my building hysteria. nailbite_smile
I suddenly spied the bulge in the vertical blinds in the living room. He was lying next to the sliding glass door...calm as can be...just relaxing in the morning sun. :roll: I call that "Shadow's terrace"...the small space between the blinds and the glass where he feels quite private and alone. Like an ostrich with his head in the sand.

I cannot ebelieve that look that Raja gives me. It's like she is saying: "GET A GRIP, WOMAN" :roll:
Well, she got her dose of Clavamox this morning~~bet she thought I would forget with all my insane running around. :lol:
A fine way for me to start the day...I HATE when that happens. :lol: Hope you all have a wonderful Friday.... :YMHUG:

ETA...I just had my morning laugh when I read the cicada story in Moonie's condo last night...OMG...so funny! Bubbles and cicadas...what a night!!! Enjoy your trip Roni...deep breaths..relax...have a wonderful time. Kitties will be over to yours today to party with Moonie and Copper! :mrgreen:

I don't know much about Lantus/Levimir yet so I'm not sure why it went up. Do you ever think the heat/humidity has anything to do with it?

I hope this bounce clears though mocha appreciates the company! I do know that shaky voice you are talking about .. I would say at least once a week one of the cats does that hide and don't find me game. I have a quilt rack in the corner of the living room that mocha loves to lay under which I found out after I tore the house apart looking for her!

Hi Pat. Sorry for laughing, but I know the routine, and definately know the shaky, nearing hysteria voice. Even when I know the doors haven't been opened since last time I saw one of mine, I still think he got out somehow.
I had to learn to look up, when Tux is missing. He will be up on a high shelf, watching me frantically calling.
Can't these cats just say "meow", to let us know they are safe? :lol:

Checkers is up on the same floor as Shadow this morning. I hope they both come down nicely. :smile:

Well I am glad that I am not the only one that runs around in state of hysteria and a shaky voice when I can't find my boy. oh I have so been there. Mannie is allowed "outsies" in the afternoon, and in general he is really good about staying in his yard. there are times though -- panic sets in -- the neighbors must think I'm nuts. Of course he saunters on in with that "what's your problem" look. Cats!

Oh Shadow - get off that pink floor. Have you found Mannie's cubby there yet? He has one all set up for his visits, which are all to frequent. he says you can play with his stuff if you want...

Yep, we're continuing the party on the PINK floor this morning, and Shadow wins the AMPS! Pat, that must have been quite a scare to find Shadow "missing". Stu does that from time to time. I'll be looking all over for him and all of a sudden, there he is, and I can't tell where he came from! They sure don't come when you call them (like the time he was comfortably observing his world in a bush 10 feet from the door while we were combing the neighborhood!)
Have a good Friday, Pat, and I hope we can get our kitties straightened out soon. Does Raja ever come out of her cube?

Raja does come out...to eat! (although come to think of it...I had to pick her up a couple of times and bring her to her food. :roll: Wow...I just realized this. Gee, what am I anyway? I bet she is waiting for me to eat her food and digest it FOR her so she doesn't have to exert any more energy. GEE!)
One time Shadow was on a shelf behind DH's chair....it was a BLACK 3 shelf unit....wow...he was totally camouflaged...it took me forever to find him that time! I have a 2 bedroom apartment too so there aren't a lot of places to hide. But they find them...and I usually don't... for awhile! I have a captains' bed so they cannot go under that....but as soon as the wallbed comes down for guest, they go right under it! This morning I felt guilty when I realized I hadn't gotten up for the +9 so I thought he went low and...well...YOU know what I was thinking when I couldn't find him. And it doesn't help that I know they are both giggling under their breath as I race around the place searching...I feel like such a foolish woman. :lol:

I wrote this in Ollie's condo
side story: I went to Walmart yesterday to buy strips...of course, I bought a ton of other stuff once I was there. (naturally!) I got home and guess what I was missing? The little box of test strips! grr_red I went back to Walmart. I searched the carts near the door that I came out of, I went to the register but of course the person who checked me out wasn't there anymore and they didn't have the box...I went then to the pharmacy thinking that maybe they were returned there...no luck but the one woman said to go to the front of the store to the service counter. :roll:
Off I went, waited in line. :roll: "This is RIDICULOUS" I said to myself as I waited. They are going to say..."tough break, lady" so why am I waiting here? My turn came. I went up and told them my tale of woe...I said they are $20 too!! So, they told me to go get another box and the they gave it to me... "Yay! :o REALLY???" says I as I jumped up and down!
I am going to be more careful with that little box from now on!!

Did you check the reciept to see if you even had them at the checkout? I did that once (it was cigarettes :roll: ) got home with all the groceries and freaked...where are the smokes! After tearing the trunk of the car apart and driving to the store to check the parking lot and carts I checked my reciept and I never bought any :lol: So then I had to go in the store and buy some.

Oh yeah...the receipt showed my $20 was paid....I was so glad they gave one to me....I am waiting to find the original one somewhere in my car truck or someplace. I definitely paid for it.... :lol:

Pat, you poor thing! You've had a rough week of it, haven't you? I bet you're glad it's Friday! :-D Dentals, test strips, "lost" kitties....
I know what you mean about the shaky voice, though, and what Barb said about thinking they got out even if the door hasn't been opened. When I lose a cat, it's nearly always civie Eve, and it drives me crazy when they just appear because then you don't know where to look next time! I'm glad you found your boy today. :smile:

Nice hiding, friend! If you hide under a big bed and then close your eyes, it's really hard for the beans to see you (otherwise they can see your eyes glowing). Especially 'cause your fur is black, that makes it better for being invisible. Let's practice tonight, ok? See you at Moonie's and then at your place!

Well, my goodness I'm exhausted from reading about all your adventures! Oh, ok... I'm laughing too.
That was great that Walmart gave you a replacement box of strips. And now I hope you find the other box too, that would be very cool.

Shadow is really good at hiding in plain sight isn't he? I tried to teach BigMac to answer me when I call his name. I began when he was a kitten and would reward him when he'd meow back. It is semi-successful because he will do it about 75% of the time. His sister won't meow, but she responds very quickly to the popping top of a can of FF. Actually ANY can with a pop top... even my DH's can of cashews. Hahaha!

Sure was glad to see the lower numbers overnight. When I read your post title I was kind of sad, but I see that Shadow did go lower and this is a little bounce. Much better than what I first thought. (High flat)

No on got a +8 snack this afternoon. Boy, you should have seen my bed an hour before dinner time! I was on the laptop and they were both there, staring at me. Raja finally growled after meowing for awhile....but that was exactly dinner time. They aren't too fussy when they are really hungry. It's good for them to really get an appetite going....as long as their numbers are okay... Shadow was pretty high all day but did come down a bit into high yellows tonight.
They are all ready for their impromptu party tonight. No decorations and certainly nothing elaborate. They have to unwind from the vet week. Gotta go check on Mannie now.
Roni....wherever you are....I am waving towards the East Coast...can you see me? I hope you are having a wonderful time! Miss you. have fun! :YMHUG:

I totally am on-board with this way of thinking. If I have a fussy kitty who wants a different flavor food, this is what I do:
   (Don't read this if you are a super-nice-sensitive-sweet mommy bean, hahahaha!)

I put the food down and if they don't eat it or start with the pretend 'covering' of the food bowl. I pick it up and wash the dish. Ha! I make sure they see me swoop up the bowl and make a fuss about washing it.

Next about an hour or two later I will put out food - only it is less than the original amount I served. They are hungry and finish it within a few minutes so I can now put the tongue-washed dish in the dishwasher.

For the next week or so, I have NO problems with finicky eaters. Until they try again to 'mess' with me.

Yeah, I'm a mean mommy sometimes. :twisted:
BigMac is not finicky so I don't worry about his eating habits messing with his 'diet controlled' diabetes. It's the civvies who are picky. try to be picky.
 
Hi Pat, Thanks so much for your message about Clavamox. It made me feel much better about giving it. My DH didn't want to give it; he says it sounds like the diabetes and not like an infection. But I don't think the diabetes numbers would all of a sudden go weird without some other underlying factor. And I didn't like the way Stu was camped out by his water bowl. Anyway, Stu took his Clavamox like a good, brave guy and didn't complain. I gave him a little piece of chicken as a treat. He's on his way to your place now, and he and Raja can compare notes. All the kitties can comfort one another: Mannie's vet day, Raja's and Stu's whatever, Shadow's numbers, etc. Moonie can tell them all how happy she is to have company. Tess, Buzz, Blackie, Checkers, Emma, Mocha, Gabby, et al. can just have fun!! See you later.

Every 4 hours, that' s ME :roll: Night and day. Every day!
Today, no one was available at snack time. Shadow was snoozing in the closet and Raja was in her cube. No one was hungry so they got nada. In the wild, there are times when there's slim pickins, right?? ....so....by dinner they were nicely ravenous. LOL. Raja was walking on my laptop literally! She was done with the cute meowing...pointing to her watch and growling almost....as if she was reprimanding me!! :lol:
