Good afternoon LL!

Yesterday's Condo:

Rocky continues to show me great numbers. He is usually in the 50s in the morning though, so the 64 through me for a loop. I fed him almost one entire can of the Evo Cat and Kitten Turkey and Chicken yesterday though, and it was the first time that he had it. It was suppose to be only 3% carbs, but I'm questioning that amount.. Could 1% more of carbs cause his BG to go up that much? The Merrick Purfect Bistro Chicken Pate has been what I have been feeding him, and it is only 2%. However, I want to switch his food up, rotate it weekly, so that maybe that help prevent his body from developing an allergy to any one irritant in a canned pet food. I've selected about 3 or 4 different bands of cat food that have from 1% to 3% carbs. We'll see how many of them Rocky will like to eat. :?

I've been a very good mama-bean today. I have only tested him that one time this morning, and i won't test him again until what would normally be his PM shot time.
I haven't fed him any of the Evo today, so let's see if his BG comes down on it's own.

Life has been so busy lately!! Kitty Karma Refuge received it's official 501(c)(3) Status on July 14, and we had our first board meeting this past Monday. I have so many ideas, it took me and hour and a half to just share everything I had listed. As soon as we've filled out the paperwork, KKR will become adoption partners with Petco Unleashed in Elk Grove, CA, and we will be adopting out cats that we have rescued from colonies, or kittens that we have tamed. In addition, I saw my hair dresser today and she has a friend who is a reporter, and we *might* get a short news story done on the plight of feral kitties and kittens in Elk Grove. It would be so awesome, but I won't hold my breath for it. We'll do great even without a tiny news story. :-D

Thank you all for your continued support, we are feelin' it here! WAAHH HOO!! flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat

Happy Day 5!

I think some cats are extra sensitive to small carb changes in their food. Congrats on getting your 501(c)(3) status.

Hi Tina,
I would hardly call 64 too high!!! You have to take into account day- to -day fluctuations. Our kitties aren't automatons
Go Rocky!!

Congrats on getting your 501c3!

Have a great evening,

Ella & Rusty

We're not going to veto or "boo" the 60s, but I was begging for the 50s.. Perhaps asking for a little too much?  Is there a way to get their BG to a lower normal if you are already feeding them a pretty low carb?

I am wondering, during this trial, should I go ahead a feed Rocky a 4%, 6%, up to 8%, to see what his body will do with it?

Congrats on Day 5, Tina!

Jersey fluctuated between 31 and 81 during her OTJ trial. Since the trial, her numbers have fluctuated between 34 and 60. I also remember OTJ kitties like Boots, who ran in the low-100s, and Davidson, who ran in the 80s. Give Rocky time. You'll find out what his "normal" in-remission numbers are.

It was so hard not to over-analyze the numbers when we started our OTJ trial - we had been analyzing them for so long. It was also hard to back off on testing. (I remember getting "yelled at" by many people here for going over my allotted two pokes a day. ohmygod_smile ) It does get easier. You're just going through an adjustment period now that Rocky has started his trial. I'll give you some of the advice given to me - just relax....quit worrying.......enjoy the ride! ;-)

I'm really happy for you and Rocky! :RAHCAT

Awright, Rocky! Way to represent Northern CA!!!

I do think you are getting greedy, Tina!!! 60s are a wonderful place to surf. Don't worry. Be happy!

Congrats on the 501(c)(3) status, and bigger congrats on the deal with Petco. That is huge. I'm so glad things are looking up for you all around.

Congrats on your great news about your nonprofit. I have years worth of data on Max's BG and he NEVER was in the 60's. As Shelly said, enjoy the ride!!

Normal is Normal. . . . rejoice!

Feed him in a manner that will support his continued good health and well being for the rest of his lives. No need for experiments with carbs at this point.

Why tempt the fates?

Hooray! Hopefully Rocky and Mottyl will be running through the finish line paw in paw.
