Yesterday Neko broke her streak of 6 cycles without pink.

It's a sad day today in LL with the loss of sweet Maggie. We are going to miss her. Sending hugs and comfort to Ann.
It's also a day of reflection for me. Today is exactly one year since Neko's first appointment at CSU. That is the day she had her CT scan that confirmed her acromegaly diagnosis and the wonderful folks there started the planning for her stereostatic radiation therapy (SRT). So much has changed in the last year. One year ago, Neko started the day at 486, but that wasn't unusual. Her SS looked like an angry fruit salad. Today I see a 259 and think she's starting the day off a little high. One year ago we had just earned our first reduction the week before, down to 8.5 units. Today we seem to be cruising along at what I'm calling 1.25F by the calipers, although it looks more like 1.0F on the syringes. You've come a long way baby cat! cat_pet_icon
The above is Neko by the numbers, but I can also tell she's feeling better. She's down to 2 pees a day (I didn't see this mornings, but she did go out for a bit after breakfast), her coat is soft and shiny, and she's a lot less anxious about food. She's still a hoover, and very keen for meals but not crazy about it and we don't have to lock her out of the kitchen when we are making our own meals. Yup, it was that bad. She still likes to help me get things ready faster. Like today, as I start prepping breffs, she hops on the counter and runs over to me. I pick her up and put her down on the floor and seconds later I hear the sproing sound of a cat landing on the stool before hopping back up on the counter. At least she's still good at jumping up on things.
Neko didn't have a lot of external signs of acromegaly. She's a big cat, but she always was. I think maybe her paws were a bit bigger but they seem normal size now. She has gained weight, which is normal for acros, but it's not a pot belly, just extra plushy. I think I just have to fiddle with the meals a bit - harder to do with raw in prepackaged sizes. This morning we had some good purrs on the nanners rug in the living room and now she's settled inside for her nap. I think she's enjoying life again.
